This article on the guy in the members only jacket is pretty interesting. He definitely wasn't on the show before so he's not someone we should have recognized. Where the hell are people getting this idea that everyone in the diner is someone Tony had some relation to? None of that speculation seems to be panning out. Also, what are the odds that this random diner happens to be filled with people who would have a grudge with Tony? That makes absolutely no sense.

IMHO, I think people are just looking for a way to justify the ending; they don't want to believe that their favorite show had a crappy ending so they're finding ways for it to be brilliant.

I completely agree, this reporter on the news was saying "Chase respects the audience's intelligence so much and their ability to interpret the ending, so that's the reason he ended it the way he did". I am not an avid Sopranos watcher, but I would be pissed if that's all I got for the ending. Someone in the Twop forums, said it is like ripping the last chapter out of a very long novel. The Lost people better be paying attention to this, because if they end it in a similar manner, I will very very pissed off.
But I do think there is going to be a movie for sure. Everyone has a price including Chase, and didn't HBO have lame ending for their other series Sex in the City, 6 feet under as well?

I bet they've saved something for the inevitable DVD.

I bet they've saved something for the inevitable DVD. In today's USA Today it says that they filmed no other alternative scenes and there will be no movie. And David Chase instructed all of his writers not to talk to the press or any other media about the final episode. He said that the viewer should just interpret the ending any way they want. Like I said earlier, DC is a douchebag who gave the finger to all of the fans of this show. Well, FU too.

I didn't like the ending at all. Leading up to the final scene was OK but that scene just SUCKED.
I compare it to the ending of Six Feet Under. I realize that you can't do that type of ending with every show but that ending was perfect for SFU.
I am not someone who needs everything tied up in a neat little bow. If I spend two hours watching a movie, I'll accept a certain lack of closure. If I spend a week or two reading a book I can do the same there. Some randomness is OK. But I have spend YEARS with these people and the relationship is ended with just silence. I know that's taking it to an extreme but come on already.

I've never watched the Sopranos, but I just had to come in and mention the fact that the final scene was filmed in my hometown. Except the diner is not a diner, and in fact not even really a restaurant. It's an ice cream parlor and candy store known for their delicious sweets. You can get basic sandwiches, burgers, and fries there, though.
That's all I have to add. My mother who does watch it was very happy it was filmed there. She used to take us there for ice cream sodas as kids.

Screw you, David Chase you lazy loser. I didn't create the Sopranos—you did. You needed to end it—not me.

Okay. I've calmed the f*** down now. I'm disappointed at the way it ended but I do think Tony is dead. Confession: I wanted Phil to live.

Honestly, I'm just glad Paulie lived. I loved his interactions with the cat and how he thinks the high earner role is jinxed. He's such a crazy mess of a man that I loved him.
