Ugh, I just read again that it WAS the last episode and we never find out what happens to Tony. Shit if that is it. I just don't buy that because after this season ends they come back with 8 more episodes in 2007. I don't think they would flashback not only the rest of this season, but next season as well. Oops. My friend said this is the last season, and I was not even thinking. You are right. So maybe this will be a "flashback year" (since the Tivo seems to be leading to Tony NOT being in the hospital). I can deal with this.

Hey Van Helsing! Let's go! Welcome aboard, fiveforfighting...nice to have you here. I thought the Van Helsing line was the best in the show...came out of nowhere, made me shoot tea out of my nose. I liked the technique in tonight's show...great metaphor for what Tony's going through. I thought it was well done.

I called it "The Last Temptation Of Tony Soprano". My friends and I were WTF?ing for the first ten minutes. I instantly noticed the longer hair and the suit and knew something was seriously wrong.
This could be a great set-up for a power play amongst the captains.

When he picked up the phone and put it back down at the end, was that symbolic of Tony giving up and deciding to die? That scared the crap out of me. All in all I thought it was a great episode and just so well done save for a few melodramatic moments.

Not only have the set up a great power play among the captains - they've also set up a great entry to the mob fo AJ. As fabulous as Edie Falco was in the hospital scenes, her performance in a show where she figures out her son is entering the family business could be one of the greatest acting masterpieces in television history.

I called it "The Last Temptation Of Tony Soprano". My friends and I were WTF?ing for the first ten minutes. I instantly noticed the longer hair and the suit and knew something was seriously wrong. His speech pattern was completely different as well...less "dese" and "dems". I realised something was off the first time the light was shining on him and for a brief moment, we saw the doctor's face looking down on him. Mr. O said "oh it's all in his mind..." and I thought "now that's good television!" I wanted to smack Carmela when AJ was trying to open up to her about how he flunked school...she went from being proud of him to that whole "with your father in a coma!" routine, like he did it deliberately. If AJ avenges Tony's shooting like he promised, I think Carmela just gave him the final push. What else does he have now? I really enjoyed this episode.

I'm teetering between hoping he pulls through and wanting him to die. However, if he dies I'd also want Meadow to take over the family and marry Christopher. Which is sort of gross because aren't they related? But still . . . I'm weird.

A good review of the episode from the local NJ newspaper. It explains aspects of the show based on the critics talk with David Chase.

We thought the same thing, Jensational -- in fact, the wife's voice sounded more like Rosalie Aprile's (Ro is probably my favorite character on the show -- the scene between her and Carmela last night was great) than it did Carmela's.
