Whether or not I watch this season will probably all come down to what it's scheduled against. ::Checks TV guide:: Singing show, sitcoms I don't watch, scripted shows I don't watch, and PBS is in boring music pledge drive mode--DWTS it is, then. Yeah, when they introduced some of the younger pairs, I wasn't sure which one was the "star" and which one was the dance pro. I think it was Danica McKellar who had a skirt so annoyingly long, you really couldn't see what her feet were doing--Diana Nyad might've benefited from that. But whenever I think badly of her dancing, I imagine shoving the other stars and dance pros off a Cuban pier and seeing who lasts the longest in "Swimming to Florida with the Stars." It must've been nice for Charlie White having a lady stepping on him not with her knife foot for a change. Good job, Erin Andrews! I still want to vote for you.

I was laughing at Candace's announcement that she would indeed be dressing modestly - and then we looked at her barely covered butt all through her dance. Just as long as her brother doesn't pop up in the audience ... she seems OK. I'm sure Kirk thinks it's a sin to dance with the opposite sex (or the same sex for that matter).
Derek's partner was pretty adorable - which is of course ANNOYING. He knows how to choreograph for her, and who is going to rag on an amputee for not doing enough?
Erin was pretty good - chatty, light, sorta funny. Brooke never broke out of her spokesmodel behavior.
I'm just waiting to see how long it takes Maks to break his promise not to melt down? They're already (maybe on purpose) scoring Meryl a little lower than Charlie and even Candace. The real Maks will be back, I'm sure!

Amy is a beacon of light in this world! You should be in tears after every performance, just like Carrie Ann Inaba! Amy's good, she won't need any extra help from the judges to make it to the later rounds. I just wonder whether they'll have her wearing pants all season. ETA: I adored Maks & Meryl's swing routine, and cannot for the life of me see any major mistakes. I'm not quite sure how the partner switch will work, but if Meryl & Maks don't wind up back together I'm going to burn down my whole neighborhood. Can't believe I'm into this stupid show now.

I'm unreasonably in love with Charlie (who could be my son - but then most of them could). He's adorably happy and shaggy. Maybe I just want to adopt him?
Oh poor Billy Dee. My dad moved better than that at 85, and he had chronic lung disease. Why sign on to the show when you can't even really WAVE you hands?

Apparently Billie Dee Williams is just a really big fan of the show, and he thought he was too old to actually be on it, but somebody talked him into it. So it's not like he's one of those people who signed up for the exposure or the money.
Much as it will pain me to have to watch him dance again next week, he seemed so happy when he found out he wasn't eliminated that I was glad.

Avery's blaming the producers. Figures. Sean's never been known as a graceful loser. The reason he retired so early in his career is because no one would sign him anymore -- he's more trouble than he's worth. (He once referred to his ex, Elisha Cuthbert, as his "sloppy seconds" to the Dallas media. That's what got him kicked out of the Stars. Nice guy) Kirkles probably thinks ALL dancing is sinful. Remember, we're talking about a guy who won't even kiss another actress in a movie.

The dance that Derek and NeNe did looked like the dance scene from Coming to America. Merle gets to dance with both Chermoskies (sp?). What a lucky girl!

Not that Meryl was bad with Maks, but she is so much better with Val. I also preferred Drew with Witney and his comments also left that impression. James was strong with Cheryl, and I guess Peta is the new Lacey in being the anti-teacher's pet of the judges.
Guess the acting career's not going to well for Julianne, huh? I thought her comment to Maks was a bit mean and unfair to Danica.

Damn, Meryl can roll right into a ballroom career if she wants to after that. Those Chmerkovskiy brothers are interesting. Maks seems like such a hothead, while Val is very intense but kind. I'm guessing that Val is a better teacher because he's been doing it longer. Maks had been playing around with this show for years before Val joined.
I had a different take on Julianne and her bitchy comment. Surely she knew that Maks fans would freak the fuck out and vote in droves (or at least go nuts on the internet)? Or maybe she just wanted to get her own name back out there again (now that most of her career seems to have tanked and she's back to dancing with her brother. she should look into Disney villain with those black eyebrows).
I wish they'd do a season with either all complete non-dancers, or all people WITH dancing experience. It hardly seems fair at all to stick Meryl and Charlie in there with Drew and Candace. Not that much is ever fair here (hi Derek! and btw - that dance with NeNe sort of offended me - would he do an African tribal thing with AMY?).

Shirtless and clean-shaven Maks. There is a God.
