Apparently I'm Isabella, meaning I have the power of mind control. Which should come in handy on my birthday and at holidays.

Thank you, Kafka. My fist cohereant thought after waking the morning was about the 4400 Premier tonight. Happiness.

So I wonder if Lily is going to stay dead. I almost cried when she died in the car outside the cabin. I remained spoiler-free for the episode and did not see it coming at all. And I love Isabella, they're doing really well capturing what the likely mentality of someone who grew 18 years in one day would be. And she's really pretty.

All of the Christ imagery with Isabella was interesting. I hope she turns out good and not evil. But since she ultimately emptied the vial, I think that will mean that she thinks she is evil for a while, even if she isn't ultimately.
I hope that Maia and the other child are okay after attending the 4400 school, but now that Matthew Ross has been definitivly set up as evil, I fear everything he has his hands in. On the plus side, if it were really horrible Maia should see it before it happens. I also wonder if the tests that were run on Isabelle had anything to do with Lily's problem and Isabella's rapid growth.
I felt bad for Shaun and his decision tonight.

So I wonder if Lily is going to stay dead. I almost cried when she died in the car outside the cabin. I remained spoiler-free for the episode and did not see it coming at all. Not sure if this is a spoiler or not since it's about the actress playing Lily but she's definitely out of the series. Apparently there was a contract dispute. (Same with the guy who played Kyle, if I've understood things correctly. Or maybe TPTB just decided to minimise his character.) Anyway, the actress will be appearing this fall in an FX series starring Courtney Cox. So, definitely no chance of "Lily" coming back to life. [/end possible spoiler] But since she ultimately emptied the vial, I think that will mean that she thinks she is evil for a while, even if she isn't ultimately. While I tend to agree with your conclusions, Shawna, theoretically there is another way to look at the issue with the vial. She was told by Evil Ratface chap about her duty to save the future, the obligations on her, and her importance. The weight of that, combined with the fact that she's essentially still a child, made her stop. Like most humans, she had a survival instinct; most people don't want to die and give up on life. And children in particular can be very egocentric and selfish. In Isabelle's case, her natural survival instinct got triggered by RatFace's comments that she's essentially the New Messiah and has a duty to others which outweighs that to her mother. That said, everything I've read about this season thus far makes me believe your interpretation is the accurate one. I think the huge degree of Isabelle's power sucked the life force out of her mother. Of course, that theory would make more sense if Lily had died while giving birth, but I like the sound of it, as well as the image of Isabelle as a sort of energy vampire. ;D I liked tonight's episode but one thing really bothered me. In an odd way, it was TOO much like watching the news. Terrorism, neocons, war, with us or against us, "your own people," initial huge public support for Whatshisface's aggressive tactics, torture...... It really, really bothered me. None of these themes are new to the show but I don't think it was as predominant as last night. And, frankly, I watch television for escapism and NOT to be reminded of everything going on today. Another point which really irritated me: the NSA. I've read quite a bit about the agency and they don't have secret operatives who go out across the world to find enemies, then do wet bag jobs on them or torture potential terrorist holdouts. CIA, absolutely. Other agencies, some. But *not* the NSA which is so purely technological. It's so well known that I'm surprised the writers would make such a gross error. Speaking of the NSA in this series, I read that "“This year the NSA’s going to be rearing its ugly head, and Ryland’s going be the head of a totally different type of organization,” Behr previews. “NTAC is really 4400-specific and that makes it a little easier. This year we’ll be doing a lot of stuff about who gets taken in and how long you can hold them etc. and it’s going to be a little scary… " That quote, and a lot of other information (as well as some minor spoilers) comes from a really interesting article interviewing the head writer or main chap behind the series (who also was behind Deep Space 9 and many of the Star Trek ones). You can read more about it here: Ira Steven Behr Mythologizing Another Season for The 4400 On a side note, I was happy that Diana & Marco were dating. I like them together. In contrast, the T.J. Kim character annoyed me last season and annoyed me this one too. Even the way she looks rubs me the wrong way. [/shallow] I wonder if they're going to show more of cool Fish Gill guy from Korea. I'd *love* to see him in action! And the "Beast Master" too! heh. Pity that they're moving the show away from case-of-the-week type episodes because that was probably what I enjoyed the most about the show.

The wholw idea of the NOVA group is lame. They could have just moved the story about the future and saving mankind without having to have this little group. I am not sorry to see Kim go, I wish creepy PR guy would also leave.
It made no sense that he was able to get away with slapping Isabelle. As a child she would hurt people or force them to do things. Now she grew up and is this little weak girl. It makes no sense.

I loved the first season of The 4400, missed the entire 2nd season and the USA marathon (so skimming thru this thread is nerve-racking agony), but I was hoping someone... anyone... please... could help a sister out and point me in the direction of where I could read episode recaps? I really want to get into this season but I'm so out of the loop I don't know what's going on. (Case in point - I tune in to see Old Lily dying - I'm like "Huh? WTF?")
