Memo to BBCA subscribers: "The Fades" starts tomorrow night and is totally worth getting hooked on. Think of it as shmooshing "American Horror Story" and "The Walking Dead" together and straining out all the filler and the stupid.

Ok, so I should be watching the following; The Fades (which I've started), Misfits (ditto), The Hour, and Black Mirror?
Anything else?

Ok, so I should be watching the following; The Fades (which I've started), Misfits (ditto), The Hour, and Black Mirror? Anything else? If you can catch "Dead Set" -- "Walking Dead" meets "Big Brother" -- SEE IT. Charlie Brooker also wrote "Black Mirror", and it's savagely critical of television and audiences, as well as being very funny and genuinely scary. He also wrote "Nathan Barley" with Chris Morris -- whose "Brass Eye" was brilliant and as edgy as British comedy can get -- but the audience for "Barley" is supernarrow and it's really hard to tell whether Brooker/Morris are treating their audience with the same mean-spirited disdain as they are their hipster-idiot characters. "Berry & Fulcher's Snuff Box" is a transatlantic sketch show -- with some threads carried through its six episodes -- that is dark and stupid and vulgar. And funny. Berry and Fulcher are veterans of "The Mighty Boosh" and Berry was seriously awesome in the expert evisceration of tenth-rate Stephen King wannabes "Garth Marenghi's Dark Place".

Cool, thanks bstewart!
Loving The Fades and Misfits. The characters in both started out annoying me, but an episode or two in, I really liked them. Except for the Irish yappy ratboy in Misfits. Really don't like him.

It's the actor playing Nathan, kateln. He stunk up the otherwise-superb "Red Riding", too, with his egregious overacting. By the way, "Red Riding" is HUGELY recommended. It's a long, bleak, soul-corroding slog but entirely worth it.

Watched the entire third season of Misfits. Still very good but I was sad that the last episode was kinda terrible with the ghosts stuff and the rushed Alisha/Simon ending. Simon's journey to become super hoodie was such a big part of the story and then it just happened and didn't feel right. While I wasn't a big fan of Nathan I didn't care for Rudy at all. At least with Nathan you had the other characters care about him in some way. None of the gang seemed to interact with Rudy (until the episode where his penis almost fell off) or even acknowledge him properly. He had his own little show most of the time and I didn't find him compelling enough to care. I did appreciate the fact though that Kelly got a more decent storyline this season (I LOVE Lauren Socha) which additionally gave us eye candy in form of Seth. Will be interesting to see how the fourth season will play out. Please don't kill Kelly, I want her to be happy.

I LOVE Kelly, too. I have to watch the last few epis but am waiting for them to be on Hulu like the rest.
I hate Rudy. He's just not funny. Even when Nathan disgusted me, he was funny. He seemed harmless.
Also, were they rushing to get nathan's character off the show? His infatuation with the preg woman happened so quickly that it didn't seem in line with the character.
ETA: Yeah, Socha seems really fun. And she and her bro (on Being Human) look SO much alike!

Sign me up with some Kelly Love, too. I like that she so desperately wanted to BE smart so she could be perceived as Not A Dumb Chav but her new power is so narrow in its advantage that she's a walking Twilight Zone episode of someone who gets what they want but is also cursed by it. I want to be buds with Lauren Socha, too.

Socha was just arrested for racially aggravated assault and as much as I believe in innocent till proven guilty, it has mitigated my love for her. A lot.
On a happier note, I do actually like Rudy. He's just so pathetic. But, I'm only up to through the fifth episode, so I reserve the right to change my mind.

Damn, I hadn't heard about Lauren Socha's arrest, that's total crush-killer :-(
I didn't know who her brother was (I don't watch Being Human) and just looked him up. Strangely enough he not only looks like Lauren but also like Jake Gyllenhaal?! At least in the pics I saw of him.
