a) hey, I was right!
2) I wish they would repeat the first impression scene during this period, to see if we really can catch that elusive magic that is Reality TV True Love.
and 3rd) when should we expect Nick to show up on next summer's The Bachelorette? Right at the beginning again, or near the end, since the middle didn't work this time?

I hope Nick finally got the message and has banished himself from Bachelor Nation permanently, for his own sake. No cruises, no parties, no reunions. Just leave it all behind and get on with being....whoever he is, doing...whatever it is he does. Nick had some valid points about Kaitlyn telling him she loves him right up until the end and waiting until the last minute when he was pulling out the ring before she made it clear he wasn't her guy. BUT if he and Kaitlyn were as close as he imagined they were he would have picked up on the signs earlier despite what she might have been telling him. If he didn't catch on sooner, he should have seen it plain as day as he started walking up to her to propose to her. She had "I'm going to break your heart" written all over her face. How could he not see that?!
Still don't like Shawn. He gives off a knuckle-dragger vibe to me. He's one of those guys who likes to say "my girl" a lot, which is something that I can't stand personally. It's not a definite red flag, but it is a minor potential one, in addition to all the other possessive-jealous signals he kept sending out. He and Kaitlyn might be the perfect fit for each other, but I wouldn't bet on it.

See, I don't fault him for being jealous on this show. It IS hard to watch yo' woman dating and making out with other dudes. Yeah, it's the whole point of the show, but you're still human. You still react.
BUT I agree 100% that she should not have waited until he had the ring OUT to drop the "it's not you" bomb. That was way harsh! I wonder if the producers told her to wait until the very, very last second. But, even if they did, she still could have chosen human decency and compassion over "good TV."

It's more his general personality, the things he says and the way he says them, that make me think he's a possessive asshole. I think the producers pushed the Shawn versus Nick story (which was basically Shawn aggressively hating Nick and Nick passively being perplexed and annoyed by that) because Shawn's basic nature made it easy to poke that out of him. Kaitlyn seemed to enjoy his macho protect-my-girl persona, so maybe that will work for her. But something tells me she will eventually be unable to live up to his expectations of what "his girl" should be like.

I can't stand Shawn and Kaitlyn is one of the dumbest, inarticulate, shallow B'ettes ever and I've watched every single season. I'm just so glad this torture is over. Bring on BiP!

In the couple of interviews I've seen of Kaitlyn and Shawn, they focus on Nick. Laughing at Nick. Talking Shit about Nick. Nick, Nick, Nick. Shawn keeps sending out signals that he's one those guys who has to out-man every guy who comes near "his girl." On GMA he made fun of Nick's weak underhand toss of the ring in the limo with Kaitlyn honk-laughing next to him. Such a lovely couple. ETA: Here's more from the lovely couple. And here's Nick's reaction. They joked about the "underhand" toss...again! Clearly, not a lot of depth in that relationship.

Shit! I decided not to record the after show because I thought a third hour was overkill. Two hours is already too much. I made it through the first half hour so far and Ben's life story is the stuff of legends. His parents have a solid marriage. He went to elementary school and made friends. He went to high school and was on the football team. He took a girl to the movies where he got his first kiss. Fascinating! But hold onto your seats cause there's a dark twist in this tale. Ben has a fear. An unfounded phobia some might say. He fears he is unloveable. He's a vulnerable man, you see. He needs a woman who will massage his ego everyday for the rest of her life to prove to him that he is, indeed, loveable. Yeah, something tells me Ben wasn't the producers first choice. The most interesting thing about him is that he apparently didn't bother to get ripped.

Hahaha! Okay, highondegrassi, I think I can stick it out if you'll keep doing these mini recaps! This was my first time watching the first ep of a season. HOLY SHIT. "Cringe-worthy" doesn't even scratch the surface. It hurt me where my heart's supposed to be. No, girls. No hiking footballs, no mini horses, no being obsessed with chickens ( ), no "pollinating" me later... Just NO.
