My favorite part of this week's episode was when Jack's grandson asked if he could call him Grandpa and Will said, "Oh my God, you HAVE to." I love the way Eric McCormack delivered that line.

I do enjoy the rare moments when Sean Hayes gets to tone it down a bit, that was a lovely moment he had with Skip at the camp. And the fact that Elliott is now old enough to have an adolescent son makes me feel really freaking old.

Jane Lynch singing in front of a Mike Pence portrait.
That's all.

But I didn’t realize that Eric McCormack is 54. He looks great and I thought he was significantly younger than that.

I love Jack's grandson and hope he sticks around. He looks like a young Jake Lloyd and that was throwing me off. Because even if Jake Lloyd has a kid that age, I doubt he would let said kid go into acting.
This poor child. I really hope if they can't get the actor back for what ever reason, that Jack gives regular updates on how his grandson is fairing. I really need this kid to be all right considering his parents. I've been watching old Will & Grace shows in my spare time and finally got to the early episodes with Elliot. Really disappointed in how that kid turned out. Yeah, he was 100% hetero and was way more into sports than theater. But he at least seemed to accept Jack as he was. That he grew up to marry Sarah Palin-Lite and not accept his own child as is is so gross to me. I'm kinda hoping he leaves wife and moves back to New York with Jake Lloyd Jr. in tow.
What a difference a decade and a half make! As I've been watching the old Will & Graces, I've noticed that while both Jack ans Will dated plenty on the show, they never got any on screen action. There was one episode where they made a huge deal about Jack being put off that NBC wouldn't show a gay couple kiss on screen and so went to protest. Will wasn't that concerned about it but came around to the point that he wound up planting a *brief* kiss on Jack during a live taping of the Today show. And this was a huge freaking deal at the time the episode first aired.
Now Will easily has a long, drawn out make out sess with a stranger and the stranger goes back for seconds and no one blinks. Progress! I mean, sadly, the fact that they also build a whole episode around Jack's grandson getting sent to a Conversion Camp shows there's not nearly enough progress... but [tiny thumbs up]progress!
ETA: Wow, I was not kidding. Last night I watched a couple more of the old school episodes and there was one where Will and Woody Harrelson (who was Grace's TV Boyfriend at the time) were hanging in a gay bar and a guy announced he was going to ask his boyfriend to marry him. Will and Woody witnessed this and right after the two newly engaged guys HUGGED! Not even a peck on the cheek for the couple who had just pledged to spend the rest of their lives together. Ouch! But then in the very next episode, Grace had been dumped by Woody and got Karen to role play Woody so she could talk out her feelings. And it wound up with Karen and Grace smooching full on the lips in bed. But the guys (even guys who had just gotten engaged) didn't get to lock lips back in the early '00's. This go round, Jack's already made out with a Secret Service Agent and Will managed to Deconvert a Conversion Camp Counselor with the power of his scorching hot smooches. So yeah, progress...

I consider what they did to Elliot character assassination. It doesn't fit at all with the way he was on the original series. It was clearly just an excuse to do a gay conversion camp episode, which they did much better on the original series. The end of the episode where Elliot suddenly does a 180 and learns his lesson (cue weepy sitcom music and hugs) was dumb.
The new series has mainly served to ignite my interest in the reruns on Cozi, but actually watching the new episodes is a bit of a chore each week.

Last week's episode was a bitter pill to take. Having to say that Rosario was dead (leaving us with a very grieve-stricken Karen) and then trying to give us a return character at the same time with Minnie Driver. She was the only one I could enjoy watching for the short time she was on-screen.

Was that Bonus Christmas episode completely unfunny, or was it just me? Everything thudded on this one. And having Jack and Will be attracted to their 1910 versions of themselves was just... uncomfortable.

And having Jack and Will be attracted to their 1910 versions of themselves was just... uncomfortable. I didn't know they did one, I've been wondering what's up with the show, I didn't know how long the run of episodes was supposed to be. I'll have to check it out, though it doesn't sound promising. When this show takes a bad turn, it really goes bad (see the thuddingly unfunny B-plot of Grace/Karen harassing their new assistant). I thought this was one of the better episodes, possibly due to the limited attention on Grace. Debra Messing has been the very weakest link in this reboot and most of her scenes have been borderline embarrassing to watch. But Megan Mullally has been fantastic and her final scene with Rosario's casket was lovely. As for Minnie Driver, she must have a portrait in an attic somewhere because she looks absolutely no different than when she played that role 20 years ago.

Yeah, last night's episode wasn't great. Sort of killed the momentum they had going.
