I wasn't sad at all when the Lone Gunmen died. I liked them a lot, but the show had so devalued the impact of character death by that point that it was impossible to think they were actually dead for real and never coming back.

Yeah, I never watched the one where the Lone Gunman died either. I always did like the "funny" episodes, though, even the ones towards the end. The crossover with Cops was so, so hilarious. I love it. I was more annoyed than anything. I think that was a big F.U. to the audience because we didn't support their spin off show (which was crap). It was obvious everyone involved with the show just didn't give a crap near the end. That was the truly sad part.

Which is why I could never be mad at DD for basically leaving the show after Season 7 (Even though he came back for some of S8 and the last ep.) He knew it was going down. They should have ended at Season 7 with Mulder abducted and Scully pregnant and then had Movie2 pick up with that. I will definitely watch any new movie they do but I don't have very high expectations for it.

Gawd, that series was awful - especially that idiot jock and the fugly so-called femme fatale. Urgh! Though I do remember the episode (pilot, right?) which had a plane about to crash into the World Trade Center. Pretty creepy in retrospect.

Yeah, I did put those two together and wondered why, if the writers for that show could think that one up, nobody at the Department of Defense could have seen it as a possibility and prevented it...

However, I wonder what it will be like with so many supporting characters dead. I never got into Doggett and Reyes and honestly can't remember much of anything those last few seasons even though I watched religiously. Maybe they brainwashed us or something? Wipe out the crapfest. Your idea for the film is a great one. Did I read somewhere that it will be a "MOW" storyline? (maybe in this thread?). I think that's the way to go. They need to start fresh and get some new fans. They could make this really work.

Yeah, it will be a monster-of-the-week type of story, so Mulder, Scully, maybe Skinner, maybe Doggett and/or Reyes will make appearances. And some scary-ass creatures, I hope.

Why would anyone want Doggett and Reyes back? The show tanked because of them. And most (non obsessive fan type) people probably don't even remember that they ever existed.
Gillian Anderson's manager recently confirmed the XF2 rumors, too. Speaking of, I hope Anderson remembers she's American and loses the accent before she comes back from obscurity to play Scully.

I don't see why she wouldn't -- she is an actress, after all.

Well, when the show ended, weren't they technically assigned to the X-Files? I know that that doesn't necessarily mean they would be back, and I hope they're not, but since they weren't exclusively part of the mytharc and didn't die in the finale I wouldn't rule it out. I hope Skinner makes an appearance, though. And says "ass."
