My all time favorite episode is the one where Tootie is FREAKIN' THE HELL OUT about going to a Jermaine Jackson concert, but Mrs. Garrett will not let her. Tootie becomes hysterical: "I'm GOIN'!!!" Ah, good times in Peekskill. Pre-Durannie-dom, I totally thought this was how fandom and backstages at concerts were like. Me and a couple friends still pull out the "I'M GOIN'!" when we're in Dorky Fanmode. I also remember the ep where Tootie was gonna be a high-fashion model, and Mrs. Garrett gives this big speech to the photographer about modeling being one step away from teen prostitution, which resulted in a big round of applause from the studio audience. And then Tootie chimed in that it wasn't right to expect her to "make love to a camera" when "I've never really kissed a boy before." In the same vein, I also love "Natalie Green, Make-Out Queen." Make way for the trash!

Guess I am a big dork too as I remember and still sing the season 1 theme, season 2 and on theme and the closing lyrics as well. Oh and season 1 was totally my fave. I wanted to look like Felice Schracter (sp) soooo badly.

Am I mis-remembering this, or did Mrs. Garrett start out kind of goofy and eccentric, then evolved into the wise, all-knowing care-taker?
And I also seem to recall that towards the end, Tootie, uh... blossomed. To the point where they tried to disguise her large endowments with baggy clothes. I mean, really, she was supposed to be the cute, little one and suddenly she had the rack of a Penthouse centerfold. They must have been scrambling for a way to keep her looking little-girlish.

Heh heh. Thanks to this thread, I now got this:
stuck in Mr. Sleepy's head. And he doesn't even read the boards. I only had to say that part and he chimed right in with the rest.
You know, I should have realized that perhaps I'm not 100% straight when my first crush ever was on Jo. I love that my husband and I both had our first crushes on the same person. What? She was hot.

True story. Jo and Valerie Bertinelli. Other than Davy Jones, those two chicks were my first crushes. I didn't recognize them as crushes at the time, but in retrospect, I totally wanted them.

I wanted to be Jo and Valerie Bertinelli. I was always a bit more of a jeans and t-shirt kinda (and I'm a brunette) and my best friend has more of a flair for fashion - and she's blond and could get her hair to look all feathery and flippy. Secretly I used to think we were like Jo and Blair (secretly because I highly doubt I could have gotten her to agree she was Blair).
My sister and I used to watch this show every week and we had each noticed that it was always directed by Asaad Kelada (I'm scared that I remember his name so clearly) so one week we both thought we'd be so cool by announcing it as soon as the credits rolled. We were absolutely crushed, crushed! when that particular episode was directed by someone else. We were such dorks.
