I just watched the whole season yesterday (yay sick day ) and I am so stoked Kristen won! Brooke was cool, too, but I loved Kristen from the get go. I loved Sheldon, too. I am happy he did very well overall.

There are not enough words to describe how much I hated the format of that finale. There was no suspense, and I thought it was a really unfair format to the person trailing behind. I totally agree, I hated it too. Poor Brooke only got 3 out of 13 votes and it just seemed so unfair. I just can't help but wonder if she might have won if they'd stuck with the normal format and/or she was able to do a dessert. And what I find really annoying is that in the third course, the way the judges were talking it sounded like they liked Brooke's dish better yet NONE of them voted for her. And it was blatantly obvious who the winner was at the last commercial break, because there was not enough time left in the episode for the desert course.

I loved the outcome, hated the format. Kristen fought her way back from JosieGate and took the crown. So happy for her. And I know Brooke (and most of the top finalists) will be fine, she's already a well-known entity in the business.

I like Kristen quite a bit, so I'm happy for her. But I wish she'd never been eliminated in the first place and then I would feel more excited. She and Brooke simply didn't compete in the same game to get to where they were. So I would have been happier with a Brooke victory.
I don't like the idea of last chance kitchen, i think it's there for the judges and producers to create drama and generate page views for the Bravo website. And this means its likely here to stay.
I really feel like if LCK didn't exist, Josie would have been eliminated. And maybe a lot of other eliminations would have gone differently too.
This show is so good and compelling on its own, I don't know why they have add anything. C'mon Top Chef. Survivor got rid of their redemption island. You can get rid of yours. In fact, I feel like redemption island on survivor was less in danger of the rampant producer manipulation that LCK is.

I thought that format was horrible. The thing that I like about the usual Top Chef finales is that the chefs are allowed to cook what they want to cook, to create a whole coherent meal. Now they had to cook live, for 160 people (that alone changes what they can serve), and they had to do scallops for the second course and snapper for the fourth course. There was no deliberation among the judges, they just had to vote. Ugh, didn't like it at all.
I was rooting for Brooke, but Kristen did a great job as well. I think if she hadn't been eliminated in that stupid Josie situation, I wouldn't have been as keen about a LCK winner winning the whole thing, but it was obvious that Kristen was super talented and should have gone farther.

I really liked both of the finalists, so I would have been happy either way. They both seem really talented.
I hated this format, though. The food seemed secondary and it was all starting to look like some cheap Xfactor wannabe or something. The lights and the crowd were distracting and unpleasant. I also wanted the chefs to be judged on the meal as a whole, not just individual dishes. I hope that the fact there was no real drama regarding the outcome means they'll scrap this idea and go back to the old format.

Top Chef Duels starts in August. Ugh, that's such a long wait for my only food show! This'll tide me over till the fall season in Boston, though.

Anyone else catch the season premiere last night? I'm annoyed at the increased presence of Richard Blaise but otherwise I enjoyed it. Though that's mostly because this is the first season that I'll actually have been to some of the places they filmed in. There were some great shots of the skyline in this episode.

I enjoyed it overall, particularly since the first two to go were ones I found annoying in their attitude, especially the second one, who was so about appearance. But yeah, not happy about Blaise being a regular, especially essentially being a co-host. Way too yappy, especially against Padma's laid-back style.

I wish Top Chef would stop trying to make Richard Blaise happen. Ugh.
