I am still disgusted by Julia Roberts and her "You put down your stick, stick-man" thing at the Oscars. Stick-man? So rude. Wish he'd said, "You go to hell, horse-lady."
As for that dude with the game on "American Inventor", oohhh, that was baaaddd. He invented the game in 1980 and had dedicated his life to it ever since. Twenty-six years devoted to a game like that, and then getting shot-down on some two-bit "American Idol" rip-off...yeesh. I felt sorry for him, and I do think he was a little mental.

I finally got to see the Rob Lowe fiasco. That was at the Oscars? I thought I was watching a show at Disneyland! That was never ending cheese. Rob Lowe must detest that song now.

I've been curious about that Rob Lowe thing for years! I remember seeing an old SNL where Dana Carvey was a snotty maitre 'd that threw Rob Lowe (played by Phil Hartman) out of a restaurant while shouting, "Don't you ever sing in public again!" Now I know why.
One of my fave moments from recent years is R. Kelly forgetting the words to that stupid closet song on live TV.

That was one of the worst lip synching jobs ever! I still can't believe he did that and think anyone would believe he was singing live.

Nick and Jessica's Variety Hour. Nick Lachey tallking to the car from Night Rider and then being in a bear suit was just awful. With each skit he was in, more and more of his dignity was gone.

And on a personal note, I forgot his first name, but last name Norwood, missing a field goal for my beloved Bills and losing the Superbowl. Ahhhh that would be Scott Norwood. That poor kid. I could not believe he missed that. Even *I* could have made that goal. My contribution to this spectacular thread is NBC's Today show - there's a whole list of things from that:- 1. The messy introduction of Deborah Norville, ousting Jane Pauley, and the implosion which followed. 2. Bryant Gumble's criticisms on air - of anyone at anytime anywhere 3. Katie Couric's early days on Today, where they showed her getting her makeup applied and her goofy cheerleader type persona during that time 4. Katie Couric flirting shamelessly with Matt Lauer when he joined the Today crew It's also shocking the hell out of me that I remember seeing both Crispin Glover on Letterman and Rob Lowe with Snow White - LIVE. Proof that they were indeed spectacularly bad and funny all at once.

Was it Michael Jackson who made an acceptance speech for an award he didn't receive? I think I remember seeing something like that on MTV or VH1.

Oh yeah, that was at the MTV Video Music Awards a couple of years ago. They were honoring him as Artist of the Millennium or something like that, it was basically a lifetime acheivement award. Britney Spears read a speech and gave him a commemorative trophy and he thought he'd won some competitive award.

I think what happened was, Britney said in her little speech, "I think he's the artist of the Millennium!" and then when Michael accepted the award he was all, "I am so proud to have been chosen as the artist of the Millennium." I believe he also said he was invincible.
