Giving this thread a major bump based on what I just saw on MSN.com: ABC's decision last week to greenlight a half-hour pilot program based on Geico's popular cavemen characters highlights the blurring line between advertising and entertainment, as well as the trouble the network has had in launching successful sitcoms.articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/Extra/AreGeicoCavemenReadyForPrimeTime.aspxJust...WTF? I mean, the commercials are entertaining enough, but...seriously? That is just idiotic.

Oh right, ABC will create a show for the annoying cavemen, but they canceled Invasion and The Nine. I hate ABC.

Kind of like, The OC is over, but they're playing "ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A FIFTH GRADER," or whatever it's called, hosted by Jeff Foxworthy.
And what replaced "Arrested Development" in Fox's schedule? "Skating With Celebrities." That's right.

Can we all just cross our fingers for a show made out of that Pet Smart commercial with the daschund and his doll? Please?

Can we all just cross our fingers for a show made out of that Pet Smart commercial with the daschund and his doll? Please? It's got more promise than the life and times of those whiny-ass cavemen. I could get behind it.

Today in the Britney thread someone mentioned O-Town's disasterous performance of "Liquid Dreams" at the 2000 Miss America pageant[/color], and immediately I knew I had to find a video of that and post it here. And yes, they are singing about wet dreams. And they mention Tyra Banks in the lyrics. Ewww. Watching it over again, it's actually not quite as bad as I had remembered, but it was still awful. I remember watching it Live and just cringing in embarrassment for all of them. That band didn't last long, did they?

I remember seeing that and being so embarrassed for everyone involved, I had to turn off the television. You know a band really sucks when you find yourself thinking they aren't nearly good enough to perform on the Miss America pageant.

Okay, I'm YouTube challenged so I can't provide clips, but here's my Li'l List o' Atrocious TV Moments:
• Roseanne Barr's talk show. Blech. Anyone watch this farce? It was beyond awkward. Lots of people have tried and failed to enter the talk show racket, but I still think she bombed the worst at it.
• Madonna's early '90s meltdown on Letterman. Classic. (I know their kiss-and-make-up exchanges in the media afterward were schmoopy enough to make the whole scandal more cute than atrocious, but as someone who watched the inciting incident live—I think I was covering my eyes at the time.)
• The circus of disgusting inappropriateness that was the televising of the OJ Simpson murder trial.
• Whoopi Goldberg in er, white face at the Oscars. I mean, I get that the intentions of the people who wrote that in may not have been horrible, but...ugh.
