I'm glad they pulled the plug too. I loved this show it's first season, gave up on it in Season 2, and this season I couldn't rush to change the channel fast enough when it came on after Chuck was finished.
I may have to buy the Season 1 & 2 DVD's however...it was so good.

I'm glad this show is finally being put out of it's misery. S1 was amazing but it seems the writers had no clue where to go from there. The actors, especially Zachary Quinto and Jack Coleman, deserve so much better.
Even though I think Zachary Quinto is a talented actor, and yes he has a bright future ahead of him, I believe the show's first mistake was keeping him beyond S1. Sylar should have stayed dead. They tried way too hard to pigeon hole his character into storylines. Bringing in Kristen Belle and keeping her awful character around simply because she was Kristen Belle was a massive mistake as well.
Oh those were the days! At least, Lost's writers and producers pulled their heads out of their rears, recognized their mistakes, and took steps to fix them! The producers and writers for Heroes never could do that. Every time I read an interview with a writer or producer I always got the sense they blamed the viewers for not getting their "genius" ideas. Serious shades of Alias S3!
I really hope the actors are given something special for all their work. Even though they knew they were being given crap they still did their best to make the crap work and always did their best sell the show to viewers. The actors were the show's greatest asset.

Does anyone remember if the writing staff changed after the strike? I remember thinking that was why things took a turn, but now I'm not sure if there was ever a long-term vision for the characters. Not that matters now... I don't think the writing staff had radical turnover--IIRC, a fair number of writers were around for three or all four seasons (Armus and Foster, Coleite and Pokaski, maybe others). I remember a lot of fans were unhappy about Bryan Fuller's leaving after the first seaon. Personally, I'm inclined to mostly blame Kring. (With special bonus blame for whoever came up with the idea to make Claire's blood resurrect the dead, if that was someone other than Kring.)

It just got bad when everyone had too many powers, and they lost me with Screaming Mya and Spidey Mohinder.

They lost me when the powers became inconsistent. On a sci-fi show, it's critical the rules established in the universe they create be consistent. On this show, what they could or couldn't do changed depending on the storyline.

Ding Dong.
Glad this show is finally out of its misery, not to mention the actors. I quit watching when it became too painful to watch Masi Oka do the clown act week after week (which is nothing against Oka himself, he has good comic chops, in fact I started to feel bad for him after a while). Or maybe it was the fifth time Maya got assaulted by a male character? Either way, I'm still sort of in awe at how far and how fast this show fell. Because the first season had its problems but man, at its best this show was so engaging!

It's rapid downfall was amazing, I've never seen a show get that bad that quickly. Usually it takes a few years for a show to suck as much as it did in season 2.

I'm willing to give Season 2 a little leeway, because that was when the Writer's Strike hit, and they had to wrap up a lot in a short time. But Season 3 was just...wow that was horrible.

I was really shocked at Season 3 because it came after such a long hiatus. It was like a year between the second and third seasons? I still can't believe they had all that time to write and produce the show, and somehow came up with something even worse than the second season. Which, actually, I didn't think Season 2 was completely terrible - it wasn't good, but it did have some aspects that I liked. The third season though, I couldn't believe what I was watching.

Yeah, I remember feeling heady that this was so good, and Lost was starting... It was a perfect storm of good tv for a while there, which was awesome.
