Season premiere was last night - it was great! The season is shaping up to be a nailbiter already. Dexter's dumping ground is discovered. He's lost the will to kill. His gf is beginning to have doubts. Who didn't crack up laffing at Chief Detective NewHaitianLady having her romantic crisis in the office? Teehee.. I've got questions about the dumping ground. How can that be? First off, wouldn't some of those bags have been moved by the currents? Secondly, there are sharks in those waters, not to mention other flesh-eating beasties down there. You're telling me that they couldn't smell rotting flesh and a simple plastic bag kept them from being eaten? And how long can a human remains be preserved in that water? It's Miami - the water gets warm down there. I would have been more convinced about the dumping gound if it was found by marine biologists researching why sharks hung out in one certain area off the coast, and then found tons of scattered bones.

Yeah the garabge bags remaining intact isn't too plausible. I could see if they were some kind of zip bag that was weighted down.

No problem.
The casting on the show is fab. Michael C. Hall just looks like a psycho. I love that it seems like, at times, he can totally and easily fit in with "normal" people, and at others, he acts so weird. The actor is objectively a good-looking guy, I think, but I can't find him attractive because the character creeps me out so much (even though I love him).
Damn! Wish I had Showtime. I downloaded a couple of S1 eps, but I want to see what happens this season -- and I don't want to wait for the DVDs. Argh.

Just the fact that I can watch a repeat of Six Feet Under and completely forget that I'm watching the actor who plays Dexter is an amazing thing. Michael C. Hall has talent coming out of his ears.

Seriously! I love him. The billboard freak out made me laugh. I watch cheesy horror movies, blood and gore doesn't gross me out, but of all things for some reason the opening credits to Dexter creep me out.

I can justify the bags staying put (and intact) with a stretch: he weighs them down so they sink, so that'd keep them in place. And they appear to be heavy-duty bags, not the cheapo crap you'd find at Wal-Mart, and they're taped up tight so they're inaccessible to scavengers.
I like the show for the very reasons I was not liking it as thoroughly (at first). Deb is an exaggerated dunderhead and Doakes is cartoon-surly. But I think the extremes of those characters adds to the surreal quality of the whole endeavour.

So I just caught up on the season 1 dvds and am watching season 2, and I just cannot get over how good this show is. The plotting, the characters, the writing, the acting, the killing, the bodies, the blood, it's like they're making my ideal of a perfect tv show. I can enjoy my weird obsession with serial killers without feeling guilty because it's fake and he only kills other killers. Throw in a Carradine brother and this show is better than chocolate.
