Paul reunited with long lost “Let It Be” bass[! About 20 years ago, the band was doing a corporate show in Phoenix, and the hotel crew dropped the drum riser on our “cavern” bass, shaving all the parts off the front of it. We gave it to our local wunderkind repair guy (now Dan Aubach’s tech), and said “make it a Let it Be bass.” He did a fantastic job. Our plan was to use it for a while, then somehow get it to McCartney, so he could claim he had found his bass, thus pulling the rug out from under whoever thought they were sitting on a big payday for the real one. That never happened, because OUR bass got stolen! Last we heard, the guy who stole it put together a counterfeit set of the three famous “missing” Beatle guitars, and sold them through an underling to some mobster for 2.1 million dollars. (I won’t discuss any more detail other than my boss has spoken to the underling via phone, and confirmed it’s ours. We don’t want anyone waking up dead in the Nevada desert next to all the dead hookers!) Congrats, Sir Paul!

Anybody remember the Kiss solo albums…? The best part of the KISS solo albums was Ace's being the most well received.

Oh I did. They were remaindered early at the local five-and-time store. (That meant a notch was taken out of the spine.) As a teen I knew it was the mark of shame because they hadn't sold well. The covers gave me second-hand embarrassment too. BUT... I do remember Ace's song "New York Groove" being played on the radio at the time. It was very catchy.

Mom taught me needlepoint in grade school, and I did full sized renditions of the Solos in needlepoint. Originally intended as pillows. The clip has been recycled a lot over the years, (but originally it was in an Edwin Newman story called Land of Hype and Glory) of four girls in full Love Gun regalia. They became friends of mine, and the first girl to break my heart was their “Ace”. I gave her the original Ace pillow. After completing the rest of the set (with MissP’s help matching yarn colors 36 years later, I made a new Ace to complete the set. Not sure what to do with them now. In the 70s, one could count on a local dry cleaner to block and stretch them square again, but now, I can’t even figure out a good google search phrase for that service…. There is a great book about the Solo Albums debacle, and it gave me a new and deeper appreciation for Peter and Gene’s albums. Topic: Still, four Beatle biopics at once just makes me think of those records.

A framing place (a good one, not Michael's or Hobby Lobby) or a dedicated needlework shop (hard to find now!) can block & stretch them. Of course they would intend to frame them, but you could ask if they could just do the first part?

I may look into it. There are no needlework shops left around here. Michaels, HL, and JoAnn are my choices.
The annoying part is, I couldn’t find canvas in the right size, so to make the new Ace have matching stitch size, I had to use the back side of the one I made back in the day of Alice Cooper’s From the Inside. But I still have the yarn I bought for that back in 1979!
