I've tried to watch this series twice now with my mother, who loves it, but I had to stop after watching one of the reruns in which Motzart is struggling to care for her illicit pups . I was like, "Wait, that's horrible. I thought this series was about meerkats snuggling each other in the desert and building little nests and stuff! WTF?" Then my mom filled me in on what happens to Motzart and...egh. No more meerkats for me.

The commercials irritate me so much. That one Meercat, talking with her voice about sensing something on the wind. Hmmph.

Okay, I am now making my third attempt to watch Meerkat Manor. Wish me luck, all.

Good luck Smilla, I can't seem to make it. Not since little Blossom was taken by the hawk.

I heard about this, and my question is: since there was a crew recording all that, why the F didn't they do anything to stop it?!? ETA: Oh, Leenerbups: she got killed by a snake.

I read a statement by the crew and they had two reasons - first, they believe in just letting nature happen and not interferring. They said the only time they would step in would be if one of the meerkats had a disease. They would either remove it or move the rest of the meerkats so they wouldn't get wiped out.
The other reason is that by the time Flower crawled out of the burrow and they realized she had been bitten, it was too late. Too much venom in her system for too long, so they weren't able to help her anyway. They said that once she passed they collected her body and buried her.

Just incidentally, does anyone know if that's ever happened? I mean, hasn't this crew been filming this same collection of meerkats for like, ten years?
