Season 3 was my favourite, I just loved the way it all wrapped up - the prom and Buffy getting some recognition for her work when it had never really been talked about before, and then the whole school banding together to fight the Mayor, and then of course Angel leaving at the end. I cried my way through the last three or four episodes of the season.
I have to say I liked re-souled Spike better, getting his soul back just added some complexity to the character. I still maintain that James Marsters' accent was not good.

I liked Glory and (Caleb?) the Nathan Fillion baddie - it was interesting to see the Scoobies having to come up against something really scary rather than something which could be dispatched in a few minutes by Buffy on her own.
I second the Band Candy love - Joyce and Giles! Squee! (I didn't really like Jenny Callendar, although I could see how she would be good for him etc)

I hated most of season 4 except for Hush because hey, so awesome. Actually I got my dad watching BtVS through that episode. My father usually ignores stuff on TV but that episode he was totally entranced. Anyway, I just hated the whole Iniative thing and to be honest, loss of Oz hotness and bleh Riley just put the nail in the coffin for me, so to speak.
My mom would try watch anything I suggested and she was hooked too although I think Spike had a lot more to do with her interest than anything else.
Once More with Feeling will always be one of my top favorite eps, along with Hush, The Body and Lies My Mother Told Me.

I hate the Musical episode so much, I can't even find the words.
Seasons 1-3 were so good and even some of 4. I was very disappointed in the whole Season 5 Dawn thing because I had read about it and how the writers were determined to not have Dawn become "Cousin Oliver" from "The Brady Bunch".
Well, they failed. IMO.

Yes they did. The constant shrieking made me want to cram a stake up her nose.
The only times I liked her was when she was with Spike. That's the sign of a good actor to me - can make even the most obnoxious characters bearable on screen. And he had chemistry with doors, even.
I hated all the Scoobies by the end of the show except Giles. Well, I always hated Xander - I found him very annoying, indecisive, judgmental and overly possessive. I hated how he treated Anya. I really started hating Willow with her whole "I can do any magic I want" crap, but she's still a Scoobie, so no repercussions for anything she did wrong. And she did a lot wrong IMO.

*gasp!* I loved Oz. He was probably my favourite. In fact, I think his departure heralded the downturn the show took. I have little to no interest in the university years (although I of course kept watching until the bitter, bitter end). I was so pissed off when they paired Willow up with Tara. That was so dumb. Tara annoyed me because she seemed to have no real personality. After the cool that was Oz, it seemed a step down for Willow. I also want to say: Poor Xander. He could be a jerk--just like everyone--but the eye scene freaked me out.

whatever, I'm kind of on the fence about Xander--he was annoying at times but he was a teenage boy surrounded by people with superpowers, I'd be annoying, too--but I really didn't like him with Anya. I could buy them as fuckbuddies, but I never saw why they stayed together and actually fell in love.

Well, I've been watching Buffy from Season One, all the way in order, having never seen it before, and tonight I will be at the last disc of the 5th Season. Maybe it's because I'm ripping through them so fast, and not having to wait a whole summer for a new season or anything, but I have liked all the seasons so far, Dawn doesn't even bug me. In fact, it's kind of hard for me to even remember which season was what. When you watch it this fast, the change in budget is so obvious, it's funny. Oh, and Buffy hasn't gotten with Spike yet, so I am just dying here. I guess it will happen in one of these last three episodes?
The main thing I wanted to say, though, was that I had a little anxiety attack when the 6th disc came in from Netflix, because now I know that I only have two seasons that everyone says sucks so bad left! I guess I can watch Angel when I'm done, but wah!! I almost wish I hadn't have started this.
Oh, and The Mayor and Spike are my favorite characters. Glory is without a doubt my least favorite.

*gasp!* I loved Oz. He was probably my favourite. Definitely one of mine. They did him a huge disservice letting his story line just sort of peter out. He got pheremone fever and ran off with a she-wolf, right? Just lame. It's not like they had problems creating weird story lines, they just couldn't seem to eke out any real energy for Oz.

whatever, I'm kind of on the fence about Xander--he was annoying at times but he was a teenage boy surrounded by people with superpowers, I'd be annoying, too Which was the premise of one of my favorite episodes - The Zeppo. I was doing ratings projections at an ad agency when the show launched, and given that they were promoting it as a drama and I was a fan of the movie, I asked for a copy of the pilot. The network sent me The Witch (which I still have), and I loved it. So basically, I was hooked on the show before it ever aired. Like many of you, I loved the Mayor, but I really disliked Glory. And I loved early Oz, e.g., "Who is that girl?" when Willow walked by after having been a ghost (for real) for Halloween.
