I'm still getting used to the fact that Sir Thomas More was also Ivor Novello from Gosford Park. Now when I watch More interact with his King I keep hearing "What a Duke Should Be."

The show went seriously downhill once Anne Boleyn's head got chopped off (oops, spoiler!). None of the following queens were able to match her.

James Frain was absolutely amazing as Cromwell. He so inhabited the character that when I read "Wolf Hall" and "Bring Up the Bodies" I read it with Frain as Cromwell's voice in my head.

Yes! Frain was awesome. And Cavill was fine for what was required of him until the later seasons where he was supposed to be old. Both he and JRM both chose to go the "high-school student playing an old person route." It was pretty hilarious, actually. And yeah, a lot of the supporting cast pretty much acted circles around the regulars.
