I'm really looking forward to The Tudors, the new Showtime series about Young Henry VIII for several reasons: Jeremy Northam, Sam Neill, Henry Cavill, Callum Blue and last, but never least, Jonathan Rhys Meyers in the title role. For the first time ever, I'm actually counting the days intil April Fool's Day, when it debuts at 10 P.M., EST.

I'm really hoping Showtime does a free preview weekend while this airs. Otherwise I'm screwed.

I hope this has some semblance of Henry's life and not just Henry VIII has sex with everyone. He was a complicated man and I hope they try to capture some of that.

The first ep is online. I'd recommend brushing up on your history first if you're not familiar with the Tudors because I was having a hard time keeping track of who was who and what their role was in the royal court. The acting is good and it's beautifully filmed. Jeremy Northam is surprisingly yet unsurprisingly hot doing penance and saying his prayers.

The videos on the Showtime website are choppy for me. It's driving me nuts, because I'm dying to see this show!!! eta: if the Showtime site was weird for anyone else like it is for me, I found another link that seems better: Link |

I can't wait for this to air in Canada. With Rome winding down, I need a new historical soap to latch onto.
The cast of The Tudors is drop dead gorgeous. From what I've read, historical accuracy will be taking a backseat to sex and more sex.
