Season 2 promo poster. Pathetic and non-sexy - I see fat 1530s Henry is still thin as a reed in their version and he's not even a hot skinny boy. I'd forgotten that they like to call him Henry 8 (edgier than VIII!).

I kind of like the poster. The show? Not so much. I gave up after episode 6 and haven't been able to bring myself to try again.

I do enjoy this show. Just as long as I see it as a separate and completely fictional entity to the historical figure Henry VIII. As long as you keep those 2 apart, it's watchable and incredibly camp. I'll continue watching it, because it is quite fun.
Serious historical drama? Not so much. Rome definitely raised the bar. Sigh. I miss Rome.

Rome was awesome (Atia forever!). It wasn't particularly accurate either but it felt 100% authentic, if that makes any sense. The Tudor's is the Poor Man's Rome!

I've been watching this slowly and the women are so ugly that I can't stand it. Someone pegged it up-thread labeling Margaret/Gabrielle Anwar as a tanorexic and sadly, she might be the best-looking of them all (besides the beard that the musician dude is courting). I hate Anne's sniveling little face and her stupid smirk allthefreakin'time.
As for the actual show, it's kind of boring and I tune out Catherine's Spanish 'accent' in all of her scenes. I do not blame Henry for trying to get rid of her.
Does Season 1 ever pick up or should I just give up now? (Just watched the episode with Catherine/Henry in court.)

I gave up 3 episodes in. It's so boring. I could forgive the historical inaccuracies if they made the show the lest bit interesting (see: Rome)

Steven Waddington who played Buckingham should have played Henry.

Okay, I'm watching the free Showtime airing of this. SO many historical inaccuracies, but it's stil a good show to watch. LOVE Sam Neill's Wolsey. I always felt bad for Wolsey, he was flawed but he really did get the shaft, and Neill really gets you there with his portrayal. Wolsey did not stab himself, it was thought he took slow acting poison. Now here is my question. Last night it showed Anne and Henry having sex in the woods, and then she tells him "Don't". WTF? ? Don't what? "Finish" inside her? He's already had her, what difference would that make?

Now here is my question. Last night it showed Anne and Henry having sex in the woods, and then she tells him "Don't". WTF? ? Don't what? "Finish" inside her? He's already had her, what difference would that make? I suppose their idea was that Henry was so desperate to come inside her, almost getting to do it would make him even more determined to get the divorce. In real life, Henry was desperate less for Anne (though he did love her) than for an heir. They started going the whole way after it was clear Katherine was finally doomed but before they were married. When Anne did get pregnant very fast, Henry married her in secret so that their hoped-for son (actually Elizabeth I) could be called legitimate. Legitimacy was such a big thing in this case that I personally do not think they would have risked screwing themselves over by having Anne get pregnant with a bastard - that would have ruined the moral high ground Henry was attempting to claim and meant that the succession was still not secure. But eh, the people behind this series clearly don't care about being faithful to the details or even the spirit of the events that occurred.
