After that, I slowly just stopped watching it except when there were Buffy crossovers I adored it when Faith returned at the end of Season 4. Facing Angelus, no less. That was great television. I stopped watching when they fought over the cup of Mountain Dew (tm someone else!). I have all the other Season 5 shows on tape somewhere, but I haven't bothered yet. Just like I never finished Season 9 of The X-Files, though I have it all on tape too.

I loved Angel until it turned into a 'turgid supernatural soap opera' in S3, that and adding Lorne, Gunn, Connor and Fred to the cast. Good thing they had the hotel to house everyone.

I've started re-watching Season 1. The end of "Hero" never ceases to punch me in the gut. I don't know what I think of this. On the one hand, I'm digging the Buffy S8 comics and am intrigued by the possibilities of a similar series for Angel. This being the Buffyverse, maybe they could find a way to bring my beloved Wesley back (even in spirit form). And, it being a comic, maybe we could somehow see Doyle again. On the other hand, the finale was just about perfect and I'm not sure that I need to know what happened post-"Let's go to work."

I've started re-watching Season 1. The end of "Hero" never ceases to punch me in the gut. Is that the one where Doyle dies? If so: *sobs*! I have Seasons 1 to 4 on DVD and absolutely must start going through them. There are episodes I've never even seen!

Is that the one where Doyle dies? If so: *sobs*! Yes. "Is that it? Am I done?" *snifflecrysob* Enjoy the DVDs! I noticed you didn't mention S5, which I didn't care for too much at the time. However, some individual episodes in that season were awesome: Smile Time (Puppet Angel!), The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco (luchadores!) and Not Fade Away (the end).

Enjoy the DVDs! I noticed you didn't mention S5 Thanks! I'm going to buy S5 when I'm done with all the others, or if I catch it on sale before then. I heard about "Puppet Angel" but haven't seen him yet - I can't wait! ;D

The only way Puppet Angel could have been improved on would have been puppeting the whole cast. That would have made it 10 times funnier, in my opinion, although it was already pretty damn funny. I have Angel season 5 on my Netflix queue.

I have a friend whose husband bought her a Puppet Angel (replica?) for her birthday a couple of years ago. So jealous!

That's a good man your friend has there. Screw diamonds--A Puppet Angel is Forever!
I loved the puppet's frowny face and the extra felt on the brow area to make it more prominent. And the stick-straight-up hair. "Angel, you're so...cute!!!" (/Fred)
ETA: Dang it, Lilith! Now I want to see the entire gang puppet-fied! Fred as Janice = priceless.

But think how cute a puppet Spike would have been - little puppet eyebrow scar, wee leather coat. And Puppet Wesley - with wee puppet glasses. And Puppet Fred would probably have looked like Janice from the Muppets, with the straight hair.
