She seems really over it in that Fabletics TV ad I always see where she rides a bike and then gives the peace sign and mumbles something about her line is likeable. You can almost see her thinking "I am fucking Kate Hudson and my mommy is famous and I should have an Oscar damn it! Not be doing yoga wear ads for the peons!"

I haven't seen that movie so I can't say how good she was, but I do remember she acted like she was *owed* an Oscar for the movie. Most nominees gush that they are so flattered and excited; Kate's response was pretty much, "Yeah, my mom won an Oscar too, I guess being a great actress runs in the family." Modest much, Katie?
I bet her tantrum when she didn't win was EPIC. I'm surprised she didn't burn down the Kodak Theater.

She wasn't that good in Almost Famous. She wasn't that good in any movie I have seen her do. She hasn't stunk up the screen, but you could insert a dozen or so actresses into her parts who would have done just as well or better. She is one of the poster children for Hollywood nepotism. |

I was so so happy when Marcia Gay Harden won that year. Kate had won a lot of the lead-up awards and everyone was acting like her winning an Oscar was a done deal. And despite the fact that I still haven't seen Pollock, MGH has a permanent pass from me no matter what crappy movie or TV show she does.

I was always annoyed that Sarah Polley had to drop out of Almost Famous thus ensuring that Kate Hudson is forevermore known as "Oscar nominee Kate Hudson".
The fact that her career quickly slid into mediocrity is appropriately deserving.
