I have the same obsession, Grumpy Girl! One of my "to do" things is to clean my washer with white vinegar and very hot water after they mentioned all of the e-coli that gets trapped in there.

I get so many good cleaning tips from this show. My favorite one is using cola to clean a burnt pan. It really works!
This show has really shown me that harsh chemicals are not really necessary in keeping your house clean. I have been using much more vinegar, baking soda, lemon, etc. since I started watching.

This show has really shown me that harsh chemicals are not really necessary in keeping your house clean. I have been using much more vinegar, baking soda, lemon, etc. since I started watching. I've always used vinegar to do things like soak my shower head and get rid of lime scale, but now I know about cleaning with it. I often clean out pans that are coated with non-stick surfaces with cleaner and baking soda. The baking soda helps to take out any scents in the non-stick surface. I also put a sliced lemon into the garbage disposal and run it occasionally. I'm learning a ton of other things though. Peanut butter to get gum out of hair? Who knew? ETA: I just cleaned my ceramic stove top with baking soda and lemon juice. It's the best it's ever looked. I've tried 409, Windex and the special cleaner for ceramic stove tops. None of them have worked as well. I love this show.

This is so good to know. I need to start taking notes while I'm watching the show (I need to get a life, I know) but I've had a few bad reactions with cleaning chemicals so I'm all for trying the gentle versions. I'll try the pumice stone on our hard water stains in the commode and let you know how it worked.

I'm glad that you mentioned the pumice stone because I have a lime mark on my vanity top that I can't get off. I've soaked it in vinegar and everything. Every time I go into my kitchen I look at the top of the stove and think "DAMN woman, who knew that baking soda and lemon juice would be the best cleaner!?" Now I'm going to have to start buying bottled lemon juice and baking soda at Costco to keep up. How Clean of Your House has a BBC4 homepage with more cleaning tips. LINK

I love this show and the tips I get from it. I'm always appalled at how dirty some people are. It's shocking how they can live with filth. This is an episode I'll have to watch and be horrified by:

Just ew.

I really wonder how many of them will actually change? I've become obsessed and have been recording the shows. I don't advise watching it while eating as it's so disgusting. There are so many dangerous things growing in these houses that it's amazing that these people are still alive. Also, the woman who was environmentally conscious and her house was a giant culture dish. She was just a pig. Also there was the bachelor social worker in the country cottage who thought that he was Clint Eastwood II and lived in total squalor. I think that he thought squalor was manly. It makes me realize that our house may be messy and a bit dusty but OMG, it's sparkling compared to these people.

God, yes, thats disgusting. How those stoves don't manage to catch fire is beyond me. The lady last night just really didn't give a damn, did she?

Did you guys see the one with the lady who ran the organic farm? Her house didn't look as full of trash as some of the others, but it sure was full of germs. Ick. And worse, she didn't care at all. She was really churlish about it. Do you think that someone else nominated her (like her son, daughter or daughter-in-law) and that she was an unwilling participant? I don't know how they get people on their show.
