Just reading this thread is making me want to go and clean right now, and it's 12:57 am here! I don't know how I'd cope with actually watching the show.

Did you guys see the one with the lady who ran the organic farm? Her house didn't look as full of trash as some of the others, but it sure was full of germs. Ick. And worse, she didn't care at all. She was really churlish about it. Do you think that someone else nominated her (like her son, daughter or daughter-in-law) and that she was an unwilling participant? I don't know how they get people on their show. I've wondered about the selection process too, especially since many of them seem to go right back to their dirty habits. I really feel for those poor cleaners who have to sift through the trash and do the heavy duty cleaning.

I think some of them just want a free thorough house cleaning and they don't care that the whole world knows it.

Anyone else wonder about the lack of personal hygiene with folks who can't be bothered to scrub their toilets once in awhile?

I think some of them just want a free thorough house cleaning and they don't care that the whole world knows it. I agree, you can even tell that's what they're doing and they don't deserve it because they are going to go right back to being pigs. Oh, and about the personal hygiene -- what about the people who's tubs look either filthy or aren't even accessible?! You KNOW that they can't be bathing if their tubs are full of filth or 300 newspapers and magazines. Now that's just gross. The bachelor, High Plains drifter scuzzball was like that, his tub was clearly not being used so you know that he had to be rather ripe. Ick, these people are revolting. And yet I watch.

I saw the epsisode featuring the woman with the toxic fridge yesterday. How is she still alive? Even her toothbrush was moldy. I would think she'd have gotten some nasty disease by now, living with that kind of crap. And I about threw up when Kim and Aggie were picking up her dirty underwear and smelling it. Ewww.
I take issue with something Aggie said last night. She told the woman that if you wash your clothes in cold water, it doesn't kill the germs. I'd buy that if you were using only water, but I assume most people use detergent when they wash their clothes, so why would it matter if the water was hot? Unless my clothes are really stained, I use cold water (to save energy) and I have never had a problem. Maybe that woman was so gross she didn't even bother to use detergent.

Maybe SHE needed to use hot water to wash her clothes because they were so nasty.

I love this show, but never seem to see it on my TV's menu any more. It's on "Lifetime," right? I need to start watching it again. Anyone remember the woman whose floor was covered with clothes and other stuff she threw down and never picked up and underneath THAT layer of clutter was a lot of cat poo and thrown-up hairballs?! GAHHHHH! I cannot imagine what that place must've smelled like! With three cats, the minute anything comes out of either end, I am on the spot with the scooper or Nature's Miracle and paper towels! I've seen dirty tubs on "How Clean... " but have The Ladies ever encountered massive human hairballs in bathtub drains? I've known a couple of men who never cleaned their drains, even though the hair was so packed that the tubs hardly drained when they showered. *shudder* The larger, blonde of the pair (don't know whether she's Kim or Aggie) reminds me of Pearl Forrester from "Mystery Science Theatre." I want to be her when I grow up!

Kim Woodburn is the tall blonde. Aggie McKenzie is the shorter woman.
Two of my favorite Kim quotes:
"Tramps, God bless 'em, are cleaner than this." (This was the ep with the guy who had no furniture in his apartment, slept on the floor in a dirty sleeping bag, and had used tissues everywhere)
Aggie: "This place is like a kennel!" Kim: "Don't insult a kennel!"
Nurse Noir, BBC America is broadcasting HCIYH? every evening at 7:30 PM EST.

For me, the best Kim quote is: "The honk, Aggie, the honk!"
