God, this show has been going downhill for a long time. Now, it's just screwing, drinking/partying and screaming at each other while drunk. I watch the first episode of each season because I hope against hope that it will be better than the previous. Such a shame.

You know, I remember when The Real World was actually interesting to watch. I was there--as a viewer--for New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and London. I only watched about half the Miami season, because they were all pretty irritating. I was back on board for Boston and then Seattle, mainly because of my ties to each of the cities. I caught a few episodes of Hawaii, and that was it.
The housemates used to be actual people, rather than just potential hook-up partners. Can you imagine a medical student or a deputy sheriff or an AIDS activist or a race car driver (even though Mike was jackass) in the series of today? Maybe I am just showing my age, or maybe I am just a fuddy-duddy, but the show has become (in my opinion, ymmv) nothing more than a stage for getting a bunch of dipshits to have drunken sex with each other, rather than provide a setting where people might achieve some interpersonal growth while still being entertaining.
It's just so DULL.

This season is hideous, as the past 500 or so have been--but for some reason, I can't turn away from this one. I hate Trisha and Shavoun as much as the next person, but it's Parisa who really rubs me the wrong way. She's pathetic. I think the skanky blondes are actually really onto something, her self-esteem is so non-existent that she DOES pander to the guys, and has no sense of comradery with the girls. I think early in the season we even got that classic "I've always had more guy friends---girls are too catty". BLECH. Her behavior with that idiot Aussie Alex was just embarrassing. She might as well have crawled after him on hands and knees. Oh man, and her "singing"  Ay. The ears, they bleed! God, I'm cranky. The guys are pretty boring to me. Isaac has a few good quips but doesn't really seem to have any other good traits. Kelly Ann seems dumb as a brick, but I think she's harmless and a kind of a cutie. |

In the early seasons the housemates had actual lives outside of the house. Some had jobs, some were students, some were in between the two. Now they are forced to spend all their time together in a house that has no privacy. The bathrooms are in the open, the bedrooms don't have doors or, in the case of this season, they have glass doors.
It's just turned into a free for all. I haven't even noticed if they are given a job anymore by the producers. They all tend to look alike somehow and the ones who show some signs of an actual personality eventually become drunken fools. It's so boring.

I can't tell the two blonde girls apart this season. Not that I've tried very hard. I was a huge Real World fan when it first started, but now I'll only watch if I'm folding laundry or something. I'm amazed by all the drunken sluttiness. I miss when the people were med students, aspiring dancers and singers, and writers.

Wow! I watched last night for the first time in a while. I gotta say I admire Parissa because I would've LAID a bitch out if I were her. Trisha is just the most vile, clueless, disgusting excuse for a human I have ever seen. And do.not get me started on Kelly Anne and Assli...Wow!
I love how KA has a messages on her MySpace explaining her actions...

Parissa is the only reason that I watch the Real World. The other girls on this show are so far beyond fake and shallow that there are no words to describe.
And the guys on this season are so boring that I don't even remember their names. But at least the one with the southern accent has some kind of common sense.
I do love this Parissa girl though. She takes no s**t from anyone and I just love seeing her go off on whoever when they get on her last nerve.

From the previews it looks like things will get better for Parissa when Issac returns, and the gruesome twosome really aren't that tight with Trisha after all.

Dear Lord--anyone watch the horrible finale of this horrible (should be extinct already) show? Who are these people? How are they real? What is real? Why, God, why?
Of course, that said, I watched every single episode, and this season was vastly superior to last season--although I vaguely remember there was a girl who had a nervous breakdown because a guy wanted to take her bowling on a date. That was fun.
I think ultimately the thing that upset me the most was the mess they made of that huge house. How does that happen?
