Awesome quote Leenerbumps! Ok, I watched a really good episode of a man who would dive to try and give sharks "tonic". It is achieved by touching them in the nose area (which is really sensitive on sharks). The shark would go into a trance. It was really cool!! He manage to do it to a Great White for a few seconds! Did anyone see this? I watched that several times. It was amazing. I actually teared up thinking of how incredible he must have felt. Had to be one of the best moments of his life. As I mentioned, my dream has always been to free dive with a Great White but after seeing that, I have a new dream. That was truly incredible IMO. Gosh I don't know whats wrong with me but I just have always loved sharks so much.

I don't think I would be brave enough to swim with them, but I am in awe of them. I've been to Sea World a few times in Orlando, and it is the first place I go to.

I didn't realize that it was on this week, so I've missed a bit. Have they debuted any new shows?

I haven't seen any new specials yet, just shark week-themed episodes of Mythbusters and Cash Cab.
But then I've been kinda half-watching, counting on the knowledge that everything will be repeated. Sadly, it appears that I am not living every week like it's shark week, as I should.

Les Stroud has a new special--which was pretty interesting on surviving shark attacks. I loved the Mythbuster's episode--it was funny.
Uhm, not that I'm excited for Shark Week or anything (trying to hide my avatar).

I think tonight's Dirty Jobs is a new special Shark Week episode.
They re-ran Air Jaws last night, which is one of the first Shark Week shows I ever saw, several years ago.

I watched the story on the USS Indianapolis tonight. Damn. That was terrifying stuff. Good to know that the sharks didn’t kill the vast majority of the people though – exposure and drowning did. It’s still absolutely horrible (that poor captain killed himself!), but I feel better about my shark love after watching that.
And then later on in the programming (I think it was Shark Migration), I was so sad for Mark when he thought that his Dolores was gone. I also love that he named her ‘Dolores’.

The Dirty Jobs episode was pretty interesting - they were basically at the top of the world fishing through the ice for a Greenland Shark.
It was funny/interesting to see how miserable they all were in the cold (and the poor camera guy who fell through the ice!), and that PhD student was so cute in her enthusiasm.
But they weren't joking when they said the sharks were extremely lethargic and didn't move very fast. I know they had to kill the first one because of the damage to her gills, but the second one they released looked pretty dead to me too. I was like, "Geez, has anyone checked for a pulse? 'Cause I'm not sure there is one."

Dolores the Tiger shark is one of my favorite stories. I thought it was so cute how attached he was to her and how thrilled he was when she came back. Being a shark fanatic myself I can totally appreciate the affection he had. And Dolores is the cutest name for such a massive animal. I actually had an inflatable Great White that my aunt bought me in 1979 that I would take in the pool and have make believe adventures with. His name was Boo-Boo. I have always said I will one day see Great Whites and will name one of them Boo-Boo in memory of my beloved pool doll. God I am such a sharkaholic. Can't wait until next year to go on my cage dive in Guadalupe!
