Squeeeee! I will never tire of Air Jaws or Air Jaws II!
Could certainly do without the Mythbusters ad nauseum. Sorry, they annoy/bore me.

I love Shark Week! Not to be cross-posting (or Debbie Downer), but I posted about the movie The Cove in the movies thread. It's a documentary about secret slaughter of dolphins in a small Japan town. They herd them into this cove, chose the most attractive ones for the very lucrative performing dolphin business, and kill the rest for food (although the meat is too high in mercury to be healthy for humans to eat). I'm not sure I going to be able to sit through it, but I do want to give the movie my business. One of the men who is trying to unearth this is the guy who used to train the dolphins for the TV show, Flipper. He has now become very outspoken against keeping dolphins in captivity (like for Sea World shows). I though it might be of interest to my fellow sea-lovers. Hopefully the movie will raise awareness so this practice is stopped. It's horrifying. Anyway, I have Shark Week on with the sound down while I am writing a paper. Yeah, I could do without the Mythbuster guys too.

that one last night, Blood on the Water was pretty good. pretty grisly too. Sharks in the neighborhood creek. I can't even go in the deep end of a pool without hearing the love theme from Jaws.

Haha awesome! I thought I was the only one with the irrational fear of sharks in the swimming pool...
"Blood in the Water" was better than last year's similar mockumentary on the USS Indiannapolis. I think the gore was what made it better. But I really don't like the format of splicing the story with faux interviews because it's just cheesy.
Can't wait for "Deadly Waters" tonight?
Does anyone know if Mike Rowe has any Shark themed spots this week? He's my fave.

My fave tv time of the year has come around once again. Woo hoo!! I can never get enough of the Air Jaws shows either even though I think I have them memorized by now. Just seeing one of those beautiful creatures breaching out of the water is something I have to see in person before I die. I see things like that and I think no way can there not be a God. Only a greater being could create such a spectacular work of nature.

I love Air Jaws.
They'd better show the Shark Week version of Dirty Jobs again!

Today I was home alone, sandpapering walls and watching Shark Week: pure heaven.

True Confession time: I don't have cable tv right now. I'll have to wait for the new shows to show up on the Discovery site or elsewhere on the web. I'm so jealous of you guys.

Big ups to Florida having the Number 1 Deadliest waters in the world! w00t w00t! RepreSENT! You are a riot. We do have some dangerous waters here don't we? Oddly enough though I have lived here all my 37 years and have spent vast amounts of time in the water, the largest shark I have ever encountered was a Nurse shark. And they are not threatining in the least. In fact IIRC she was pretty friendly. The only creature I have come across to really scare me was when I was ten and we were out snorkeling off of John Pennekamp State Park and I came face to face with a huge Barracuda. And I mean that sucker was maybe two inches from my face/mask looking me dead on which is scary for an adult let alone a little kid. I got the hell out of the water real quick and it took a couple of weekends before I felt safe enough to go back in. I do have a friend who had an extreme encounter down here with a Tiger Shark and while she was not hurt or anything it scared her enough that she has never gone back into the water. Bummer for her.
