I snorkeled with nurse sharks in Belize. They are very gentle and it was a lot of fun. You just have to keep your fingers from their odd little mouths.

The Dolores the Tiger Shark episode was on again last night and even though I knew the happy ending I was still tearing up when he thought she had been killed. Can you imagine having a bond with a 3000 lb tiger shark because I fully believe he did in some weird way. The animal was so at ease and gentle with him and to allow him to take a ride on her is just something that never fails to amaze me. And make me incredibly jealous. I want a Tiger shark of my own to go play in the ocean with lol!

Yikes, the guy who's head was in the shark's mouth? Nasty.

The Toronto Zoo has a nurse shark and bamboo shark exhibit on now where you can interact (stick your hands in!) with them. Yes, we are going this week.

I'm missing Shark Week because I am out of the country. Please watch with extra zeal for me! Dolores is my favorite shark story too. I got misty too when I thought that she was gone.

I love Shark week because it helps me appreciate the beauty of these creatures. They are important to the ecology of the ocean and these documentaries help reinforce that belief....oh and sharks are awesome!
unless you are getting eaten by one...then its not so awesome.

Shark Week! Although my college is on break, I was supposed to work for the next three week in the advising office, but it was cancelled because funding was cut. Oh well, guess I have to hang around and watch Shark Week.
Shark Fact: Bull sharks have a really high testosterone levels (and are aggressive). Most males have a level of around 40, but bull sharks testosterone levels are 900!
