Those things scare the crap outta me. Aren't they the ones that have been found in rivers, hundreds of miles upstream? *shudder* Yep, back in the '30s a couple of fishermen caught one in the Mississippi up here at Alton (basically St. Louis)! Crazy! (And now I feel like Grandpa Simpson: "So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time.... ")

(And now I feel like Grandpa Simpson: "So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time.... ") Haha, that made me do a good ol' gigglesnort. Fantastic stuff! ;D By the way, since my cable was a victim of finances, I found a website [/color]that's broadcasting Discovery Channel during Shark Week, in case anyone needs to watch at work or something. <-------- (is a bad influence) ETA: Well, dammit, now they're broadcasting something else. Check back periodically, they might pick up Shark Week again.

Shark week is like Christmas for me. Just saw Chris Fallows out with a kayack amongst a couple of sharks and I am so jealous. I would hand feed a seal to a GW for a chance to do that. And I am loving the super slow motion camera shots of the breeches. Freaking amazing. God, is there anything on earth more magnificent than a Great White?

Wow! The Ultimate Air Jaws episode had some awesome footage. When the Great White is dwarfing the scientist's boat as he attacks the decoy seal? Yikes! That thing was HUGE!

I love Shark Week so much. The new Air Jaws show was wonderful, especially the part where he was in the submersible with the giant, huge, enormous Great White swimming right there.
I'm loving the ads, too, with "Happy Shark Week!" and "the most wonderful time of the year."

I think the scariest thing I ever saw on Shark Week was a show about Mako shark. They did an experiment to test their speed. They towed a cluster of fish and a camera behind a boat in Mako-infested waters. The camera perspective was frightening. Those sharks went from a speck in the distance to practically swallowing the camera in about .000001 seconds flat! I think I actually jumped behind my chair.

Sharkman is on right now, and this guy is touching the sharks like The Shark Whisperer! It's insane!
I can't even go in the deep end of a pool without hearing the love theme from Jaws.
And now the shark is in a trance while it was birthing(?) after having sex (?) I don't know, I missed what happened, but it is AMAZING to watch.
