House Hunters, please Buy Me: real estate shows

I don't know who Colin and Justin are, but I've seen some Colin and Justin show in the listings for the past few weeks on HGTV. Are you talking about a different show?

Colin and Justin are these awesome Scottish designers who go into hideously decorated homes, mock them, redesign them, and then get all flightly and bitchy during construction. They're wonderful. Most of their designs are things I wouldn't want anywhere near my house, but they're so wonderfully entertaining that it doesn't matter. Their BBC show was called How Not to Decorate. The Canadian show (filmed in and around Toronto, IIRC), is called Colin and Justin's Home Heist. Apparently they'll be working with a Canadian crew, which on the one hand, awesome, but on the other, I loved the people they had on the British show and I'm worried the Canadians won't be as entertaining.

I figured their show was starting this week after the marathon o'Scot yesterday.

Colin and Justin have done a lot of TV in Britain. In addition to "How Not to Decorate," they were the original hosts of "Trading Up," they got a chunk of money from the BBC for "The Million Pound Property Experiment" (flip houses until you make a million pounds), and they attempted to rehab a Scottish housing estate in "Colin and Justin on the Estate." (I watch a lot of HGTV, and fey Scottish designers are entertaining, even if I frequently want to bitchslap them.)

We don't have cable, and I usually miss out on these kinds of shows.

I'm watching "Home Heist" right now and they aren't far from where I live!!!

The show seems more scripted than "How Not to Decorate" and I'm not thrilled with the Canadian crew. I hope it improves.

YES! thank you. That's what's missing. I couldn't put my finger on it. And lets face it.....Canadians just seem rather dull. The home owners on the British show are so funny and eccentric usually.

What ever happened to Buy Me? I miss my Man In Black and the greedy, clueless homesellers.

Buy Me runs incessantly up here in Canada, and it got a mega-renewal in 2007 - 65 episodes, which is 5 years of episodes. I have a difficult time distinguishing episodes anymore - they all blend.
