I love him. He's a better actor than people give him credit for. And I don't think he looks that bad.

I wasn't an admirer until I saw The Aviator. I think he did a better job than Foxx, IMHO.

I think my two fave movies of his will always be The Basketball Diaries and What's Eating Gilbert Grape? I haven't seen The Aviator yet so I can't judge his performance in that.

Eh, he just keeps getting uglier as he grows older, but that could just be me. I don't see the appeal in either him or Giselle, but it seems I'm alone in that.
He's impressed me acting-wise when he was younger, especially in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? Lately, not so much though. He was horrible in Gangs of New York, especially in comparison to Daniel Day-Lewis who completely walked away with his movie. He was technically good in The Aviator, but I just didn't buy it, probably because I always find Leo too babyish to be Howard Hughes. He was better than Jamie Foxx though, whose impression deserved no accolades whatsoever.

Serious Word. I think he definitely deserved to win that Oscar and Jamie did not. Though I'd be tarred, feathered and have my Black card revoked if I ever expressed this sentiment to the masses.

I felt he was wonderful in the Aviator but not good enough to get the Oscar. Don Cheedle should have won that particular contest. I do think Leo is an amaizing actor though, much better than he's given credit for being.

As much as I love Titanic, I think it was his worst, because the character he played was just so bland. But he's an amazingly gifted actor-I loved This Boy's Life.

Oooh, I gotta respectfully disagree about Titanic. I loved him in that scene where the rich folk condescendingly allow him to dine with them one evening. The usual cliche would have been for him to fumble and commit faux pas, and maybe end up angrily telling the snobs off. Instead, he handles himself with confidence and absolutely no sense of being out of his element. Of course, a lot of this is simply the script -- but he made it believable that a nomadic wannabe artist could sit down with the ship's elite and handle himself with panache. I recall one review saying (paraphrased, natch) "Only Leonardo DiCaprio could have you believe that his last feelings as he slowly died in the freezing water were gratitude for having met Rose." The review actually brought tears to my eyes! You wouldn't want to be around me when I'm actually watching the movie. I'm not one of those chicks who dabs delicately at her eyes with a tissue when I cry -- I'm a wailer, man!

I recently watched Romeo and Juliet. I hadn't seen it in years and I had completely forgotten how much his performance rocks. Damn, did I cry when he cried. There is something very believable about him, although he is Leonardo DiCaprio I still buy every character he plays. Can't help it. I even liked him in Gangs of New York. Haven't seen The Aviator yet but I wish he'd stop working with Scorsese. Next up is The Departed.
