Searched for a thread but couldn't find one...
Did anyone else watch this superior trainwreck last night? Hugh Jackman's appearance made me tune in—but MY. GOD. It ain't enough to bring me back. The singing! The casino owner who lives in a subdivision! Melanie Griffith! The singing! The braindead wife who thinks the guy who stalks her at her home and the grocery store is a hot, benign stranger!
To sum up: Supertrain + Manimal + Pink Lady and Jeff = Viva Laughlin.
I'd be shocked if this show doesn't get ganked in the next two weeks.

When the casino owner started singing Viva Las Vegas, I moved on to Criminal Intent. I was going to give it a looksey for Hugh, but nope, can't do it.

I liked Hugh Jackman belting out Sympathy for The Devil. Otherwise, it was a complete loss. No likable characters, stupid plot, etc. I predict it'll be gone by Thanksgiving.

It'll be gone within a few weeks. Smith was only on for a handful of episodes.
I'm sorry I missed it. Sounds funny.

The thing is, the show it's based on (Blackpool) is amazing. Yes, the singing's weird and the plot is lame, but they sell it. But from what I've seen of this (couldn't see the episode), it looks so very very bad. But watch Blackpool! It's got David Tennant!

I love Hugh but good lord this show stinks! I know he's full of talent but this is not the way to show it off.

I'll definitely check out Blackpool!
I don't know. If the writing and directing weren't so woefully subpar, and the interludes of singing maybe done with a more "wink wink" attitude, I think the show could work as high camp. I laughed a lot last night for all the wrong reasons (namely during the cringeworthy duet of Blondie's "One Way or Another" with dullard Lloyd Own and painfully insane Melanie Griffith) but the show just didn't have that extra something that nudged it from really bad to really bad fun.

I planned on checking out the first episode, but thought it wasn't on until Sunday. Darn it! I wanted to see the horribleness for myself.
I need to rent Blackpool one of these days.

Let me get this straight... it's a musical drama, but the musical numbers are sing-over-the-originals? That's really fucking stupid. I love Huge Ackman, and will watch everything he's in -- for a while, anyway -- but why should he be singing along with Mick Jagger when he's perfectly capable of belting out "Sympathy for the Devil" on his own?
If I wanted to listen to someone singing along to a golden oldie, I'll stop telling my boyfriend to quit singing with the car stereo.
Speaking of whom, this show will bring out the absolute worst in my boyfriend so I'm not even going to tell him it exists. Shhh, you guys.

This show looked like crap on a stick. It tanked in the ratings last night, losing over half the audience from its lead-in, CSI. This turkey's cooked!
The best part is that Eric Winter can soon return to the far superior Brothers & Sisters and resume his making out with Matthew Rhys.
