OMG, that review is gold. I love how she points out to forget the narrative, Penn's prose is worse.

My favorite quote demonstrating he doesn't know how words work:

“Behind decorative gabion walls, an elderly neighbor sits centurion on his porch watching Bob with surreptitious soupçon.” ― page 71

And his strange affection for alliteration:

"There is pride to be had where the prejudicial is practiced with precision in the trenchant triage of tactile terminations.” ― page 125

My first thought was, "What did the Sanctimonious One do this time?" I simply expected him to be whining about #Metoo being mean to men, I wasn't even hoping for comedy gold like this.

In related news, he's been trash talking Robin Wright on the press tour, saying they have "conflicting ethics on parenting"*. Gee, let me think about whose parenting ethics I think are more likely to be superior.

He was on The Daily Show last night, trying to sound like An Important Novelist. He did not succeed.

I did notice that his voice sounded a little...off. It took me a minute to figure out what I thought I was hearing, and I realized it sounded a little like Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. in the early stages of spasmodic dysphonia. Have we heard anything re: Penn's health?
