Double posting in the Sean Penn thread? What the what?! Oh well, it's been awhile. Sean Penn has a serious man crush on Bradley Cooper. So much so that he's convinced himself that A Star Is Born is one of his favorite films of all time and should sweep the Oscars. He knows it won't happen, but goddammit Bradley you beautiful, BEAUTIFUL man, you must appreciate how hard Sean has tried! He pictures you as an artist jumping off a vertical cliff naked. The least you can do is send a pic of yourself standing on a cliff naked (and make sure it's vertical). Yeah, Oscar voters, grow some balls! Vote for the remake of a remake of a remake directed by an Actor's Studio grad and Hollywood darling and starring established superstars. Forget about movies like Black Panther, Roma and Bohemian Rhapsody. Those films are merely "trendpieces." Everyone involved in those films wouldn't know a vertical cliff if someone threw them off one. Be REAL MEN with big balls Oscar voters and vote for.....the musical?? Oh Bradley, how he loves you so.

I posted about this on the Oscars thread. Who thought this was a good idea?

I'm just imagining Bradley Cooper like, "Uh...really, please...don't try to help me." I don't even know what that editorial was or why Deadline published it. I liked A Star is Born and Bradley's performance, but shit like this and FilmTwitter's total assholery towards Rami Malek this awards season has me really, really hoping that Rami wins that damn Best Actor Oscar. Nothing against Bradley, but some of these people are suddenly acting as if his lack of an Oscar is on the level of someone like Peter O'Toole's. And on the directing side, Spike Lee JUST got his first nomination. So I'm a little puzzled why some folks are flipping out over Cooper not getting a directing nomination for his first movie.

I'm not a huge fan of Sean Penn but damn it if I didn't find him (well, his character) kind of adorable when he guested on Friends

I almost hope Sean Penn got paid a lot of money to write that and just decided to turn out the most ludicrously over the top endorsement of ASIB he could think of. Doubt it though.
And just to say, if there's anyone in the current Best Actor category who's been waiting a while for his due, it's Willem Dafoe. I don't care for "make up" Oscars in general (and I expect Rami to win anyway). But since the overall category is fairly meh to me this year, I wouldn't be TOO upset in this case...

I really wish Dafoe had won for The Florida Project.
Bradley Cooper, despite his pointy face and beady eyes, is a good actor and will very likely win an Oscar someday. I haven’t seen ASIB, but it’s got a pretty basic formula and not some masterful directing turn. I really hope Spike Lee wins.

Good grief. Sean Penn needs to save the drama for his llama.

I don't really care one way or the other why Penn wrote it, but I think it's neat that not too long ago, Bradley Cooper was the rando acting student in the audience at a taping of Inside the Actors Studio asking the guest Sean Penn a question. Now Penn is the one writing a tribute to Cooper.

I just got done watching the last season of "Animal Kingdom" and every time she was on screen I'd think "there's Sean Penn's wife" because she's not super interesting as an actress. Now she's not even SPW.
Given his history, makes me wonder the reasons, for sure.
