The first time I saw him INXS was the opening act, if that lets you know how long it's been.

Ooh, let's see. *cranking up rusty brain cells* 1983, touring in support of Friend or Foe and Shabooh Shoobah? Yes, Mr. Ant put on an excellent show. He and his band did Kings of the Wild Frontier in its entirety, then about 10 more songs from various releases, including a tasty cover of "Bang a Gong (Get it On)" that segued into "Physical (You're So)". Hope to see him again in a few years, for the 35th anniversary tour of FoF.

Consternation and uproar in the ATX as the Austin City Limits Festival released the 2017 lineup on Thursday.See Jay Z at the top of the list? He wasn't there when the lineup was announced early Thursday morning. The response was less than enthusiastic, shall we say (RHCP headlined just five years ago; jokes were flying that the promoters had accidentally published that lineup instead of this year's) and rumors abound that the promoters were either worried that this would happen and caved to earlier demands from Jay Z to get him onboard, or were stunned by the negative response and called him in a panic to throw whatever he wanted at him to save the festival. Best line, from Austin's favorite curmudgeonly music critic: "Fyre Fest ticketholders/survivors are looking at this lineup and feeling sorry for us..."

So, we flew into Providence yesterday and drive over to the casino we are performing at tonight. I needed to stop at a drugstore, so I rode in the gear van.
When we got to the casino (Mohegan Sun, in Uncasville, CT), the gaudy sign shows that the Who are playing in the arena last night. I wonder aloud how expensive THAT would be to see, and the driver laughed.
When I checked in, my boss texts me that casino set us up with comp tickets! Bonus Who concert! Woot!
They were great. Pete was snarky about ticket prices ("I hope you stole your tickets!"), Roger nailed the scream in Won't Get Fooled Again, and Zak Starkey played like Uncle Moonie, and not his dad (not that I am disparaging Ringo's drumming!).

Just saw Michael Moore's one-man show on Broadway. I thought he would rail against Orange Hitler the whole time but no. He also railed against Reagan, the electoral college, the governor of Michigan, and our failing systems, in general. It was great, like a progressive pep rally. After Bowling for Columbine, he received thousands of death threats and six people made actual attempts to injure or kill him. Jesus!

Bummer. We just walked out of the Kool and the Gang show here in Akron. It was only $5 admission, but it was cold, rainy, too loud (especially the kick drum heavy subs) and, worst of all, out of tune.
There were at least four keys gong on on every song, the one the band was in, the one the singer was in, the one the sax player was in, and the one the trombone player was in.
I believe under the excessive kick drum, it was a decent mix, despite the tuning issues, but it was about 6db above comfortable. And if one more person yelled, "Is Akron ready to party???" I may have thrown myself in front of the next passing bus.
The opening act was a local funk cover band, and they were really good.
Nothing like a bad show to remind me why I don't pay to see concerts anymore...

My sister and I saw Ed Sheeran last night at the Century Link Center in Omaha, NE. It was a very good concert and our tickets were quite reasonable for the very decent seats (main floor, about 35 rows back, center for $149 each).
James Blunt opened, and although I was never a fan of his "You're Beautiful" (blech!), he was quite funny and charming and his new-to-me songs were worth a listen.
Ed put on a great performance all by himself. I was well entertained and had an awesome time singing along. I highly recommend seeing him if you're a fan--you won't be disappointed.
