We've got a couple fun weeks of music coming up: Next Friday is Hall and Oates, whom I've never seen. Then the Friday after is my favorite, Matchbox Twenty. I'm more than a little obsessed with Rob Thomas. 😳

I saw Hall and Oates on tour with Carly Simon back in the day. They opened the show, then came back and were Carly's band. Very early version of "Live at Daryl's House?"

It made me a fan. They were incredible. I never really cared for them before that, being a heavy metal kid.

I have not let go of my resentment toward Matchbox Twenty. I was trying to take the CPA exam (back when it was still a pen and paper exam and you had to take all 4 parts over 2 days) and they were warming up in the next room. I was not confident that I knew enough about Government and Non-Profit to be able to pass with that kind of distraction....

Who were the geniuses who scheduled a CPA exam in a room next to band rehearsals? I'd be pissed if I were trying to take a test with that kind of distraction. Blame the schedulers, not MB20. Cause, you know, Rob Thomas is perfect and can do nothing wrong.

As Reese Witherspoon said in Big Little Lies- I like to nurture my grudges like pets! I'm also holding onto a pretty hardcore Dave Matthews and Phish resentment because when I was finishing my degree it seemed like EVERY weekend that we tried to schedule a meeting to work on group projects there was somebody in the group who couldn't make it because they had to got to Phoenix for a Phish or Dave concert. I was pretty sure by the end of those 2 years that both bands actually lived in Phoenix.

I actually really do like Rob Thomas. I was sad to read about his wife's health problems.

I went to Janet Jackson's State of the World Tour on Sunday at the Hollywood Bowl. It was a nice trip down memory lane. I forget how many of her songs played major roles in my life growing up (I'm looking at you specifically "Again"). The crowd, including me, were on their feet during the entire concert. Obviously Janet doesn't dance as well as she used to, but her back up dancers more than made for it.

Going to see Parker Millsap in New Orleans at the House of Blues in May. I'd prefer seeing him at The Parish in Austin on 6th St., a smaller venue, but NO is more convenient. Tickets are only $15 and I don't even know who I'll rope into going with me since I don't know very people here, but damn it, I'm going and I can't wait!

I finally saw Snow Patrol in concert!!!! AHHHHHH! Yay for no longer being a struggling fresh graduate and finally having disposable income so I can see one of my favorite bands.

I love them! I can't wait until they announce their official tour dates, I'd go see them again.
