I agree. You should stand, and deliver yourself to the show!
š
ETA: because of board etiquette, but totally unrelated to Adam Ant:
In my Kiss concert saga, a possibly overlooked detail is that my seats were changed.
I sent an email complaint about that to the venue box office, and made an impression. After a round of emails, this afternoon I had a very pleasant chat with someone from the Cavs/Q Arena P/R staff.
I was told that my detailed email outlining why I specifically purchased seats further back from the stage was āone of the most eloquent and informativeā they had seen. A member of the box office staff who used to be involved in music performance recognized that I had sound, professional (what with me being a sound professional!) reasoning for my complaint.
We carried on our chat and Mr PR said in the course of looking into the situation, they realized that in fact, my original seats were still available to me, on a different screen in my Flash Seats app. I could have chosen to pass on my āupgrade.ā Since this was the 1st time in 40 years of concert-going that I didnāt have a paper ticket, I had no idea how this app works. Apparently the venue didnāt either!
Point of story: the upgrades were done by the venue, not Kiss, and as they were made aware by my situation, they need to rethink implementation, so they are issuing a refund, including all fees!
Woot!

Just saw Weezer last night. I know they can be divisive, especially within the fandom, but all the songs in the set, even the covers, just made me happy. They do put on a great show. Disco ball, set changes, pyrotechnics, confetti, a fake rowboat on a rolling platform to take Rivers over to the back of the arena, a barbershop quartet arrangement of Beverly Hills. First concert in like 15 years, and it brought back some great college memories. I've been roped in to join my friend as she takes her teenage daughter (and her friends) to watch BTS (Korean Pop Group) at the Rose Bowl. If anyone is familiar with their music, please let me know what songs I need familiarize myself with!!! Iām a casual Koop listener, so these arenāt deep cuts, but Blood, Sweat and Tears is a big one. DNA. Fake Love. Have fun.

Glastonbury from my armchair! Last nights headliner was Stormzy, grime and rap artist and I thought he was brilliant loved his set except for a rogue Chris Martin apperence, but also included a beautiful ballet piece explaining only how recent the ballet shoes now come in all skin tones, this guy is 25 and the first solo UK black artist to headline a night at Glasto, and you could see it meant the world to himand later he got approx 100,000 to shout Fuck the Govt, Fuck Boris live on the BBC, Hah! Tonight Iām watching Janet Jackson now, then Liam Gallagher* and then later The Killers*. Tmrw, Kylie Minogue who is getting her chance to play after she couldnāt in 2005 after her cancer diagnosis canāt think of who closes the show... just looked The Cure play tmrw too. Which has a school memory of our French teacher translating Love Cats to Amour chats and making us sing it !! I like festivals from my armchair! * on now basically Oasis without Noel. Whatās the Story Morning Glory, wellllllll!! Edit* Pet Shop Boys!! join The Killers with Always on my mind, hello 80s!! Now with Johnny Marr on guitar for This Charming Man, hello 80s indeed. Edit Sundayās armchair Glasto, The finest man on earth himself Sir David Attenborough! He got an incredible reception. New series coming up Seven Worlds One Planet. And upcoming The real Kylie. Iāve loved wee Kylie since her Charlene in Neighbours days to now. I might be a little giddy to see this.( Edit ok didnāt expect to get a little teary ) Yep from Stormzy to Kylie my Glasto watching is broad! Edit Miley Cyrus covering Amy Winehouse, no, nope, no you donāt young lady no.. Otherwise she ok Last edit The Cure are sounding ageless Robert Smith is in fine voice. I remember prefering The Cult, Sisters of Mercy and The Damned to The Cure at the time but still enjoying this. Edit again to say The Cure smashed it and Robert Smith not just in fine voice but a voice unchanged or damaged in over 40 years incredible! Boys don't cry at the end had me proper student dancing about. Class. I've enjoyed Glasto from my armchair. Its been fun. Last, last edit. This has been my Glasto2019 Ted Talk Thank you for your patience :-)

Going to see The Lumineers in May! I've missed them every time they've toured, so I'm excited about this. I don't usually go to venues as big as the one they're playing because I prefer small shows, but for these guys I'll make an exception.

A while back, VH1 had a show called Bands Reunited, which tracked down members of big 80s bands and got them back together. The Alarm, Haircut 100, Vixen. But the best was Berlin. That led to a detente between Terri Nunn and John Crawford, that eventually led to a return of John and Dave Diamond to the band for a new album and a tour. A tour I am about to see at the House of Blues in Cleveland (on a night when the Browns AND the Indians have home night games). I last saw Berlin at the Phantasy Theater in Cleveland in 1987(?) on the Count Three and Pray tour. Terri Nunn had a throat infection so bad, that when she tried to talk to the audience, it sounded as though she was gargling glass and battery acid. But when she sang? Magnificent. Nailed every note. You could hear the pain, so no tracks, but she powered through. It was a tour de force, top 5 concert for me. Crawford had to take over banter duties about 3 songs in, but they finished the show, and then cancelled the next 2 weeks of gigs for her to recover. I am going alone (Traffic is beat from her play this weekend), and splurged for a seat, as I am too old to stand that long, especially after driving home from Long Island all day to get here for the Berlin show. I will report back....

Just got home. Terri Nunn is a goddess. Sheās nearing 60, looks 35, and still sings her ass off. Maybe a little huskier than 1987, but, I love that, so yay! They opened with a revved up take on The Bitch is Back, then straight into No More Words. Cleveland looms large in Berlinās legend. Clevo radio started playing The Metro heavily before anyone else, and kinda broke the band nationally. Like Rush, Springsteen, Bowie and many others, they owe a lot of their career to Kid Leo at WMMS. Also, Terriās mom was from Cleveland, so they always make an extra effort here, like in ā87, when they waited until AFTER Cleveland to cancel shows. There were three occasions tonight when Terri was nearly overcome with emotion. They played nearly all the Love Life album, including a mashup/duet of Fall and Rumor of Love, and a raucous version of Dancing in Berlin featuring the VIP ticket holders dancing onstage. A couple songs from the Nunn-controlled era slipped in, and two from Count Three and Pray, including Take My Breath Away as one of the encores. The show closed with a spirited take on The Metro, and version of Highway To Hell that was ballsier than Bon-era AC/DC. One moment really stood out, though. Terri, the keyboard player and Dave Diamond (with an acoustic guitar) did a gut wrenching rendition of Drive, as a tribute to Ric Ocasek. (More Cleveland ties: Ben Orr was from Cleveland, and I think he and Ric met here.) Ric was an early fan of Berlin, and around the time if the Cars first album, adopted them, and showed them around the Boston scene, and later, wrote a song for Terriās first solo album. I never really cared for Drive (or ANY Cars stuff after Candy-O, frankly), but this version, with just Terriās voice, acoustic and piano, revealed it to be a truly great song. Better late than never, eh Scabies? ETA: oops! Forgot to mention that Terri announced they are having a ceremony at the RnR Hall of Fame tomorrow, to open a Berlin exhibit. No wonder she was excited to be here! ETA II: Not tonight in Cleveland but... Drive.

If any of you get a chance to see Ghost please go. Went to their concert last night in Green Bay and was blown away by the show. Great music and theatrics with a liberal sense of humor.
