Took my mom to see Phil Collins last night in Omaha, NE. Great show, although I was surprised how frail he looked. He sat in a chair for most of the show, but it didn’t seem to affect his singing. (He did stand for “In the Air Tonight”!)
His 18-year-old son Nick played the drums and shredded it! Really takes after his dad. Nick also played the piano for one song, of which I was unfamiliar, and did a nice job. He was very solicitous and caring toward his father, helping Phil, who used a cane, to exit the stage and such. It was lovely to see.

I went to the MSG concert and it was everything I could want — wall to wall hits, confetti cannon but yes, Phil looks so old but the voice is still strong and the band and backup singers are excellent.

The four guys on horns were phenomenal!

Sturgill Simpson with Tyler Childers in metro Atlanta. I love the new Sturgill album and wasn’t really familiar with Childers other than few things here and there on Outlaw County XM. It was sold out and a great show but I’m not too familiar with the Nashville style of performance.

I am tho still watching from the comfort of my living room Adele full set from 2016 (which was phenomenal) on now and bits a pieces of other years earlier including Springsteen so Glasto highlights till 1am it is then. More tmrw including Bowie’s full set from 2000 which I’ve only seen highlights of before. So I’m having fun

I’ve just FINALLY received from TicketMaster my refund for five Steely Dan tickets </sob!> for the Chicago concert that has been postponed until next year. It took way too long, almost six weeks and several emails to get it accomplished.
If the virus is contained, and if the concert is still on by next spring, and if my compadres and I are still kicking, I’ll repurchase. It was an outdoor venue, so I’m hopeful, but fairly resigned that this concert on my bucket list may never get checked off.

Waiting for Tower of Power to start at the MGM Northfield Park concert shoebox. Traffic made birthday cookies for Tenor player Tommy Politzer. Two of the other guys have birthdays this week, so he will have to share. ToP was Traffic’s last show in the before times, and this is her first show post-covid. I have done shows, but this is my first time siting in the crowd. I don’t miss it…. But ToP always does a great show, so I am looking forward to it. ETA: show’s over. It was, as expected, great. One odd thing: no keyboard player. He is in quarantine with covid. But his rig was set up anyway…. I didn’t know what to expect when they started Sqib Cakes. If you follow the link, you’ll see it is a Hammond heavy song! Well, it was great. I saw ToP in the 90s and they used a crappy synth for the song, and it was awful. This version with no organ showed that it is better with NO organ, than it is with shitty synth organ! Traffic’s dancing in the aisle got us reseated to the side, so she didn’t block views. While we could no longer see her friend Jerry playing guitar, she could dance, and as an added bonus, the new seats had tighter low end. This room sounds awful. When I saw Tesla there a few years ago, I giggled when, during the fourth song, I heard Steve (their FOH engineer) just give up and kill the subs! Now I know where to sit if I want to see a show AND hear it! Which might come in handy in a couple weeks when Daryl Hall and his house band are playing with Todd Rundgren.

I flew to Vegas this week to see Michael Bublé - he's in residency at Resort World. It was such a great show. I absolutely loved it. That man has an incredible voice. It was my first trip and concert in years, and I was so glad I did it.
