I turned on the 24-hour Christmas music station one day last week and heard "Feliz Navidad" twice in about 2 hours, which made me turn off the station. Ugh. I don't mind the song, but I think it's best heard rarely. I'm listening to Christmas music on YouTube right now, trying not to sing along too loudly, lest I annoy my co-workers. My first few: Fairytale of New York (problematic lyrics, but I still love it), Christmas Wrapping, and Do They Know It's Christmas. Then I switched to some Sinatra. I like his version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," but I prefer the Meet Me in St. Louis lyrics. It's "until then, we'll have to muddle through somehow," not "hang a shining star upon the highest bough." I just listened to another favorite - I'll Be Home for Christmas. I guess I like my Christmas music on the dark/melancholy side.Me, too. I just learned that Do You Hear What I Hear? was written in the shadow the Cuban Missile Crisis, and while I didn't have a hot or cold feeling for the song generally, other than liking Bing Crosby's voice, learning about this gave me chills in good and bad ways, so it will be my official obsession for the holidays. In past years it's been O Come Emanuel, Gaudete, and The Angel Gabriel/Gabriel's Message/Birjina gaztetto bat zegoen.

I haaaaate Baby It's Cold Outside. So date-rapey. I heard one of the billion versions while at the mall today and left the store I was in in disgust. One of my least favorites, along with Santa Baby, Feliz Navidad, anything by Elvis, This Christmas, etc. But, I unabashedly love Sir Paul's Wonderful Christmastime, so what do I know?So do I! Everyone seems to hate that song, but I love it. So hey, at least there's two of us. ETA: Some of my faves: Britney, "My Only Wish This Year," Elvis "Blue Christmas" (the only Elvis song I can stand), Trans-Siberian Orchestra "Wizards of Winter," Vince Guaraldi "Linus and Lucy," August Burns Red (hardcore band) "Carol of the Bells," and The Pogues "Fairytale of New York" Yeah, I'm all over the map.

I really like O Holy Night, many different versions. It's just so inspirational sounding. Maybe because I can't sing at all. I like or don't mind a lot of other carols, can't stand many already mentioned here, including Baby It's Cold Outside, but I'll be playing O Holy Night over and over a few times this season.

O Holy Night is another one of those that really gets me! The Josh Groban version, when the key shifts, has been known to give me goosebumps or outright tears. It's the "Fall, on your knees" part. I am a total Christmas nerd. I leave the Rudolph nose on my car year round. If anybody asks, in July I call it my clown nose. They don't need to know everything about me, what are they doing, writing a book?

For me, it's alll about "well tonight, thank God it's them, instead of yooooouuuuuu." Bangable Bono. I bought the Live Aid DVD special edition just for that one damn line. I remember being like ten and hearing it, and thinking, YES. YES!

That song is probably the only Christmas song I actually like.

Alvin & the Chipmunks Christmas Don't Be Late never fails to cracks me up. I will always sing along loudly to this song in the car. The CD that I have with this song on it has The Monkees Riu Chiu on it. I always expect this song to follow The Chipmunk song when I hear The Chipmunks on the radio.

Listen to it several times a season. (There are several nice versions of it on YouTube, one that translates the words, several by choirs.)
