Yeah, ubercheesy subject title, and this may or may not qualify as a thread, so mods, feel free to delete. But are there any bands or artists that you swear could be, um, twins.. you know, a pair of long-lost twins that miraculously formed two bands with several other long-lost twins, unbeknownst to the other? Or. You know. Something.
Mine: She Wants Revenge sounds EXACTLY like a touch-synthier Interpol. SWR is good - and Interpol is the bomb - so that's okay, but it's a bit unnerving. I had to look the former up just to see if it was the same singer or not. A lot of the songs on She Wants Revenge's debut album could fit riight in with Turn On the Bright Lights, particularly "Sister" and "Red Flags and Long Nights."

Hmmm. Yet Interpol sounds like a somewhat-updated Joy Division. Odd. So what then does that make SWR?

The Bravery is very much dirtier version of The Killers. Not a bad thing at all, really.

A dirtier version of the Killers? Hmm...I must look into this!
Would all those bands with numbers in their name fit this category? Especially all the ones whose members are around 30 yet sing about being in high school?

You mean Lit 182 Charlotte and as of "Beverly Hils" Weezer? Yes. I think they would.

To this day, I'm still not convinced that Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlton are actually separate, independent entities.

THANK YOU! I've never been able to tell Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carleton apart. They both have that squishy, little girl voice that goes all post-nasal drippy on certain notes.
As you might guess, I'm not a fan of either, so it doesn't make much difference anyway.

OMG. I was watching "There & Back" (shut up!) on Monday night and MTV kept running promos for this band. The first time I heard one of the clips, I was in another room and thought, "Why is MTV playing Joy Division?" The next time they played another clip, I saw the band name and was pretty shocked. I mean, there's being inspired by—and completely ripping off. IMO, I thing SWR is totally ripping off Joy Division. Despite that, I liked what I heard. And I am ashamed.
