That is in incredibly poor taste. Damn. Makes the Windsors seem downright classy.

That does not surprise me in the least. Al-Fayed is bonkers.

That is the ugliest damn statue I've ever seen.
Why can't someone make a pretty memorial for Diana? The fountain in Hyde Park is hideous too.

That statue is so awful. And such bad taste in so many ways. Something tells me Harrods is no longer patronised by the Queen or the rest of the Royals.
Since Al Fayed took it over it's gone downhill and has become so tourist flavored tacky.

No shit. Anybody remember him going on Dateline, telling Katie Couric that Princess Diana had TOLD HIM that she was pregnant with Dodi's child? Katie just stared at him, and then asked him again, for clarity. And Mohammed Al-Flippedhisnoodle repeated it. With a straight face.

After her death he was telling everyone that would listen that she was pregnant with his son's baby and that Dodi had proposed and she had accepted on the day of the accident so they were engaged when they died.

I choose to believe that he was a passing fancy. Some of her friends said as much. I still really miss her. I get the catalog from Althrop. I ordered notecards with some of her famous ensembles. She was so stylish. I would have loved to watch her live out her life.

She was with Mohammed earlier in the summer, but really spent a very short amount of time with Dodi. I sometimes think that Mohammed al Fayed mourns the lost opportunity to push Dodi and Diana together more than he mourns his son. Yes, I know that opinion perhaps goes beyond snark and I don't know the al Fayeds to say that with any authority, but that is the way he acts. He never mentions his son without connecting it to Diana. Since the British government steadfastly refuses to grant him British citizenship, I think he clings to this relationship with the Royal Family as his substitute She was great. Problems and all. I think she was gearing up to really concentrate on her land mine campaign and would have done some really good things with her other charity work. All she needed to do was put on her seat belt.

From what I've read Sr. Al Fayed was at his wits end with Dodi. He was thrilled when Dodi hooked up with Diana. It was a huge publicity event as well as a way to ingragiate himself with the royals, people who had been shunning him for years. I doubt she was pregnant and I'm sure it must be uncomfortable for her sons to hear that. You're so right, if only she had worn her seat belt. Sigh.

So we're holding a grudge against a 36 year old woman for something she did when she was 10?
Diana was not going to marry Dodi. First of all, she told Rosa Monckton a week before she died "I need another marriage like I need a pimple on my face." Dodi was just a summer fling. Secondly, there's no way in hell that Diana would take such an important step without consulting her boys first. And there's zero evidence to suggest that she did so.
Regarding the pregnancy thing, Rosa came out and hinted (maybe this was tacky and too graphic, but I'm glad she did so) that during their vacation a week before Diana died, Diana had tampons with her and was using them. She was not pregnant. Again, that's probably really tacky to discuss in public, but I can see why Rosa revealed that - to shut those people up (I'm looking you you, Mohammad) who claim she was preggo.
