I didn't see the wedding. I had just graduated from college, and I didn't have a tv yet. The following week, there were stories and photos in various magazines, and a few years later, I finally saw the wedding video.

Charles and Diana, 40 yrs ago today the wedding of the century. Imagine if they had made their marriage work, how different history would have been. The marriage was never going to work. There was no love between them.

I remember the wedding. I missed part of it because Jehovah's Witnesses knocked on the door.

They had absolutely nothing in common. It was always going to fail.

As a little girl, I remember being surprised at how wrinkled the dress was after she got out of the carriage.

My mom and I actually had a mother-daughter party for my high school choir buddies and their moms--dress was pajamas and foofy hats (with an award for the foofiest!), the grown-ups and seniors had mimosas and the younger ladies and those not into alcohol had a really good pineapple/orange juice concoction that my mom came up with, and all the moms brought their wedding pictures to share. I think we had an award for the mom whose dress was most similar to Diana's. It was a blast!

Today/tomorrow is the 24th anniversary of her death. There is a Twitter account that is posting a minute by minute recreation of the events. A bit hard to read because you keep thinking, if only...they had stayed at the Ritz, worn their seatbelts, used a non drunk chauffeur, etc etc, but it’s very well done. @dianadayday

I actually think a twitter account doing a minute by minute account is just downright weird. Why, no one needs that, I go for dark and morbid with the best of them that’s just weird and attention seeking if im honest.
I know she will always be remembered in a Royal watching sense and in a where were you when you heard sense but lord it’s 24 years save that twitter nonsense for next year and then let the woman rest.

I agree, I think it's incredibly weird and obsessive. I guess it's interesting in the abstract as an example of the level of interest she can still provoke.

I married the weekend her funeral was held. It was odd to be preparing for a wedding and have the tape delayed funeral playing in the background that Saturday but I and the wedding party couldn’t seem to turn off the television (the ladies — no idea what my husband and his friends were doing).
