While the TFC game was commanding a premium, TFC has sold out every homegame this season, and has particularly rabid and insane fans. So the whole Beckham circus was more a media creation in toronto, not something the average torontonian soccer fan really cared about much. They're not really booing Beckham because he's not playing, they're booing Beckham just because. If it wasn't him, they'd have chosen whoever else is considered the best player on the team to boo.
And the boos beckham got were nothing, NOTHING compared to what Vince Carter gets.

So far DC United is beating the LA Galaxy and I haven't seen Becks play yet. I haven't seen them show Posh in the stands, either, so I don't know if his family is here.
Oh, and Becks is now warming up and the fans are going wild. I guess he's going to go in to play.
Sold out crowd in D.C. That never happens with soccer here.

I don't think booing him for being injured is cool at all. It's not like he can help it. What do they want? Him to come back too early and *really* fuck his ankle over?

Apparently so. Which seems to be the case in tonight's DC game. He's warming up. I truly dont want him playing unless he's all healed up. He could really do damage if he forces it. Catastrophic for LA in the long run .. and hell, the English NT, which needs all the help it can get. And McClaren seems to be in attendance. He is going to have a heart attack if something happens to Becks.
PS. I want to do bad things to your icon. Jose + Scarf + Overcoat = Sexy. I can't wait for his mindgames this season .. and for that Roy Keane showdown. They can have a scruff-off on the sidelines.
Edit: I love that "We Sing Better Than Your Wife" sign at the game. Ace.

It's pouring rain now, too, so if he goes out to play there even more of a chance of an injury. He just changed into boots with longer spikes. I love the sign, too. Haaa, we sing better than your wife. Is Posh there? I havent' seen her.
ETA: He's getting ready and just told the commentator that it's like playing in England in the rain. I think that he's about to make his debut in front of a frenzied and very wet crowd. Those seats move and so if the fans start stomping they'll be bouncing like there's an earthquake!

True. I truly hope he doesnt make the injury worse. Like say, some DC player tackling him like Martino just gave to that other player. Ouch. But the rain might make him feel like he's back at Manchester. Heh.
I don't see Posh. I doubt she'd be happy with that sign. I'm getting such a kick out of it though.

Haha, it's a massive sign. You can't miss it.
Ah, the players just couldnt convert. He is running much better though which is a great sign! He did look disappointed (they said disgusted) during the rest of the match. He shouldn't have bothered with putting on that shirt afterwards.

I'm glad that he was well received here but absolutely am over the moon about the Posh sign. Heh. I'm glad that he played but happier that my home team won.
