That clip re working class claim on the one hand was cute, and yet I got the distinct impression it was planned. Something about the split second pause after she says “very very working class” like that’s his cue and she’s waiting to be interrupted. And then post exchange the sheepish trying not to smile also looked like it had been planned.
In fairness it wasn’t a bad call, because it does seem to have gone viral - as I feel sure they predicted - and for all the right reasons, as I haven’t heard much chatter about it looking staged. It is a cute argument to have, and I think it quite possibly originated from some actual similar debate or teasing they’ve had about who’s got a working class background and who’s not. But I don’t buy it was real in that moment, and not practiced.

Yeah, they probably did play it up for their non-British audience but her claim to being working class isn't unreasonable or her being falsely modest because it's not about what car the family has or how much money her family had. The British class system is more about your family tree/"pedigree", which is why Kate Middleton got those "doors to manual" comments about her parents even though her family was relatively well off when she was at school as well.
Posh has probably had the same conversation numerous times and knows that wealth is not the metric for gauging class in the UK. I wonder if she is self conscious about it because at the very end they do talk about how much her accent has changed over the years (accent being one of the initial things a person is judged on in a social setting).
