So I finally got "Songs from Dawson's Creek Vol. 2" the other day (shut up) and against my better judgment I really enjoy the melancholy version of "Daydream Believer" that's on that soundtrack.
I have also gained an appreciation for Frente!'s "Bizarre Love Triangle." I don't know what's wrong w/ me.

But he deserves to be shot for his massacre of Prince's "Kiss." How! Dare! YOU! It's so smarmily tongue-in-cheek and fun. I love it! Of course, I also love his version of "Black Betty" for the same reasons. Huh. I'll have to give that a listen. I still remember the Olivia Newton John version from the early 70s. That was onerous.

Oh, I love that version. The original is brilliant as well, but it's like two different songs. By the way, one great thing about watching Dawson's Creek is all the music I've discovered through it. I bet I could make ten soundtracks with songs I love that was used in the show.

And it's really good music too! Not teenybopper and stupid!!!! (Jessica Simpson music notwithstanding.)

Not so much a cover per se--but Tito Puente's version of "Take Five" just kicks so much ass. It takes this really smooth jazz classic--and gives it this amazing flare. I love it.

Brian Molko (of Placebo) and Trash Palace covering "Je t'aime....moi, non plus". And you thought the Serge Gainsbourg/ Jane Birkin original was overtly sexual! Yow.

Gosh, I have so many cover songs I actually like that I forget a lot of them. Anyway, since I've had the new Scissor Sisters single on repeat lately, I remembered how kickass their cover of Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" is. It's loungy and purrrrs. Mmm.
The Boy Least Likely To also does a ridiculous cover of "Faith"

Ann and Nancy Wilson had a side project called The Lovemongers. They did a wonderful cover of Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore" on the Singles soundtrack. Even better than the original.
