Jadefox, I love that song. You know what else is a sad song? The Sufjan Stevens one about that dying girl (Casimir Pulaski Day, I think?). Oh, also the one about John Wayne Gacy.

"Into the West," by Annie Lennox, from the LOTR:ROTK soundtrack. I could hear that song in the middle of the happiest moment of my life and I'd still want to cry. I was with a friend shopping once, and that song came on in a store, and we both left, knowing we'd be bawling in a minute.

Oh gosh, if we are going to bring up The Postal Service, how about Death Cab For Cutie's "What Sarah Said"? I tear up just reading the lyrics:
And it came to me then that every plan is a tiny prayer to father time As I stared at my shoes in the ICU that reeked of piss and 409 And I rationed my breathes as I said to myself that I'd already taken too much today As each descending peak of the LCD took you a little farther away from me
Amongst the vending machines and year-old magazines in a place where we only say goodbye It stung like a violent wind that out memories depend on a faulty camera in our minds But I knew that you were a truth I would rather lose than to have never lain beside at all And I looked around at all the eyes on the ground as the TV entertained itself
'Cause there's no comfort in the waiting room Just nervous pacers bracing for bad news And then the nurse comes round and everyone will lift their heads But I'm thinking of what Sarah said that "Love is watching someone die"
So who's going to watch you die?..

The Dance by Garth Brooks. Gets me every time.
And now that Veronica Mars has ended, It Never Rains in Southern California...
Just one more: The World Spins by Julee Cruise. Every time I hear it, I'm taken right back to theat scene in Twin Peaks where Laura Palmer's cousin is murdered while everyone sits around in the bar, sadly listening to this song...

Dealing with a break-up just now, so I'm lovin' wallowing in this thread. Some of the stuff that you guys suggested is very good. Below is my contribution.
Will you still love me tomorrow by The Shirelles: Tonight you're mine completely. You give you love so sweetly. Tonight the light of love is in your eyes. But will you love me tomorrow?
Baby Mine from Dumbo: Baby mine, dry your eyes. Rest your head close to my heart. Never to part, baby of mine.
Broken by Seether: 'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome, and I don't feel right when you're gone away.
Somewhere from West Side Story: There's a place for us, Somewhere a place for us.
I don't want to talk about it by Rod Stewart: I dont want to talk about it, how you broke my heart. If I stay here just a little bit longer, If I stay here, wont you listen to my heart.
Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones: I watched you suffer a dull aching pain. Now you decided to show me the same. No sweeping exits or offstage lines. Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind
Best I ever had by Vertical Horizon: What was it you wanted, could it be I'm haunted.
Warning Sign by Coldplay: When the truth is, I miss you. Yeah the truth is, that I miss you so. And I'm tired, I should not have let you go. So I crawl back into your open arms.
Blind by Lifehouse: I loved you more than you'll ever know; and part of me died when I let you go.
Walking Away by Lifehouse: An old man cries; never thought to ever think twice of all he had, of all he lost; a selfish life, I guess comes with the cost.
