As a Tottenham fan, I was disappointed but Liverpool earned it. As I neutral, I was rooting for Tottenham as well chonies and I so wanted Harry Kane to score. I like Kane. He’s a brilliant footballer and gives the impression of being very hardworking, professional and humble. Qualities I highly admire in a footballer. Also, he is so very boring that I find it endearing and I want to cuddle him.

And yes, his brand of charming is "incredibly dull" in an endearing, vintage, granddad in a woolly jumper sense. Doesn't drink, likes to golf, probably gets a thrill out of riding in the top of a double decker bus, etc. I blinked and missed whatever happened that got Salah the PK, but oh well.

Well, my Liverpool supporting husband didn’t think it was a penalty and I’m sure it wasn’t. My God, was my husband beaming when he got back home from the pub (on his bicycle!) all raspy-voiced and slightly drunk. I can't even remember when I last saw him drunk. Just the sight of him made me forget how much I hate Liverpool... but only for a minute! Oh well...

I like Harry Kane too. Tho I was well happy for a Liverpool win (mostly due to Ray Houghton and Ronnie Whelans goals in Euro 88 I will always be a fan) but I’m no diehard so I would have been happy too for a Tottenham(Robbie Keane Irish legend of course former Spurs star too) win.
Ok my Keanu distraction is effecting auto correct as I just had to edit Robbie Keanu....

I asked a Waterford man why so many Waterford men are Liverpool fans, and I was drinking Green Spot at the time so I can't remember but I wrote it down in my little Moleskine. I think it has something to do with a shipbuilder who hired people from Waterford to work in Liverpool, and then became mayor. I'll have to dig it up. I personally thought that was A Bit Too Specific To Be True, but who knows.

Women’s World Cup. Who else is watching?
I am so excited for the England v USA match on Tuesday.
When the WC started I was all in for England, even though I am American. My reasoning is that it would mean so much more to more Brits, and USA have dominated for so long. And then Cheato’s petty tweets happened. Now Megan Rapinoe is my hero. (Also Lucy Bronze!)
I guess I will cheer for both and be thrilled for the team that wins, and heartbroken for the team that loses.

Well, I absolutely know what you’re going through Karrit... although I’m neither English nor American. I wasn’t rooting for the USA and I was leaning towards England… However! Megan Rapinoe is AWESOME and I’m feeling very conflicted at the moment

But that said Megan Rocks!

I’m also watching the Gold Cup, and last night featured two very interesting games—Haiti came back from 0-2 to beat Canada 3-2, and then I made the mistake of going to bed instead of watching Mexico beat Costa Rica on PKs. My social media filter bubble was filled with heroic images of my curly-haired dreamboat goal keeper Memo Ochoa. The US men have been doing pretty well, too*. The narrative about facing off against Trinidad wrapped up nicely, and people other than Christian Pulisic have been making good plays. He’s amazing but this roster is mostly MLS players and Christian is kind of an outsized outlier. Anyway, in the interest of diplomacy, the WWC has been amazing to watch. I want the US to win but anyone would be great. *eta: except Sunday’s game against Curaçao. Woof. That said, per the discussion from the hosts, it seems like the Cuaçao team essentially came up through the Dutch system, which changes things, I think.
