Former Ireland Manager and England WorldCup66 winner Jack Charlton has passed away at the age of 85. He brought absolute joy and incredible glorious times here as manager of the National Team. Euro88, Italia 90 World Cup quarterfinals and USA 94 weren’t just football tournaments but stuff that made dreams real and moments now forever in the national memory bank. Some even feel they brought in the good times thru the rest of the 90s into early 00s. He and his wife were made honorary Irish citizens too something that wouldn’t be given to just anyone. The most loved Englishman in Ireland. Thank you Jack for all the fun and great memories. Jack Charlton An Honorary IrishmanRest In Peace.

Young Marcus Rashford is an incredible young hero yes on a football pitch but moreso off it, to pick up from my post at the top of the page, the heartless Tories in the UK have again voted to not continue meal vouchers for children in school holidays, Rashfords effort made them do a uturn before this time they were not for turning. In response to Marcus Rashfords continued work council, local business across the UK are promising meals to kids in the holidays This article explains it well Marcus Rashford is a hero the Premier League UK scarcely deservesHe is 22 years old and his diary for this week will be scored a winning goal, helped out with my mum at a food bank and mobilized small business countrywide ( already hit by covid) and councils to make sure children don’t go hungry in 2020. What an incredible young man.

It’s all kicking off in UK/ Euro football.( soccer) I’m not wholly up to speed, it there has been I gather a sudden announcement of a possible European SuperLeague ESL Six English teams are part of plans for a breakaway European Super LeagueIt’s not been welcomed at all Boris Johnson never moved as fast to condemn something even Kensington Palace has put out a statement Link Will is patron of English football. Uefa is even hinting that players who play this league may not be able to play for their repe gives countries in World Cups or Euros It’s all a bit mad Ted!

Pardon the oblivious American checking in.... was this something people saw coming? I saw a bunch of rage over ESL blow up all of a sudden and couldn't figure out what the controversy over English Second Language was. Now I get what ESL stands for but am still a little baffled.

My ooor understanding of all this is that the owners of the clubs decided on this with little and no consultation with team managers, players or fans. So there may have been talk or speculation of something of this sort might happen but this announcement came as a surprise. It seems to be a superleague they joined where essentially no can be promoted to or demoted from they stay part of this league and compete between themselves, Ive seen but again unsure that they might no longer be a part their own domestic leagues and effect players participation in Worlds and Euros. It is already falling apart tho Chelsea and Manchester City set to leave Euro Super League

It reminds me of the massive XFL flop when that first started. What a mess!

The Euros kicked off this evening but I was too engrossed in the tennis to watch. I will mostly be cheering for Scotland, Wales, Belgium and Finland, so that’s them jinxed then Edit Apparently almost every team at the Euros have a couple of players who could have declared for another national team other than the one they are on, Finland’s Daniel O’Shaughnessy might be one of them who could I wonder... Edit Oh my god, Denmark’s Christian Erickson just fell to the ground during first half about 15 minutes ago and has needed CPR since the cameras went away and back to studio just as his wife was being brought over to him. You could immediately something awful just happened he was motionless on the ground, deeply upsetting to watch to see and very worrying. Praying for Christian Eriksen Match postponed Edit Eriksen is recovering in hospital thank god This will be the defining image from today, his teammates forming a shield for his privacy and apparently Finnish fans threw flags to help them block him from view. A team protecting their mate

That was a really scary and upsetting moment. The look on his teammates' faces said it all. Relieved to know he's recovering and I hope it turns out OK.

Yes, a really terrifying moment! I have to commend the players on both teams as well as the referees for how fast they all reacted - not sure I would have had that presence of mind.
