Yay Blackhawks!!! I'm so happy for them. I had a huge grin on my face watching the celebration on the ice, but I shed a tear or two when Jeremy Roenick was choked up and referencing a kid he saw crying when they lost in '92. It's okay, Jeremy; we forgive you now.
I don't live too close to any bars, but I can hear people yelling outside. The parade is going to be insanity.
Now if Patrick Kane can just get through the summer without doing anything stupid/dangerous . . .

I'm not a hockey fan, but I'm very happy for the team (and for their fans). Chicago is insane right now. Shouting, helicopters, fireworks, and even gunshots in certain neighborhoods. I would love to go out and about this weekend, but I sense this will be a problem. carrier76- My best friend is from St. Louis. She's a diehard Blues fan.

That had to have been the most anti-climactic winning goal I have ever seen. That puck just disappeared. I feel sorry for the hairy cavemen of Philly, but congrats to Chicago. At least we are spared having to see the annoying Piven and Vaughan polluting our screens. I switched from CBC to NBC, only to see that big suck Roenick crying. Find some dignity Jeremy.

I know. I think at first, only Patrick Kane realized he'd scored, because he was fist-pumping and celebrating, and no one else moved. We were sitting there watching going, "What just happened? Where's the puck?"
I enjoy watching hockey, but I'm not a huge fan. My husband, on the other hand, has always been a Hawks fan and is absolutely thrilled because all of "his" teams -- the Bulls, the White Sox, the Bears and the Blackhawks -- have won championships in his lifetime. He cried when the Sox won.
I didn't hear any craziness where we live in the 'burbs (although during one of the first games, some a-hole was setting off fireworks), but my God, the footage of what was happening in the city was insane. Why do idiot, fair-weather fans feel the need to pretty much riot when their team wins? I know a guy who's going to the parade (he's a sports photographer, but really he's going because he's a huge fan), and I don't know why he's so excited. It's going to be crazy.

My hatred of the Blackhawks (Go Wings!) is mollified by the fact that at least an Original Six team won. So, congratulations!

Yeah, he was a local. People were pretty sad about it in these parts.
In happier news, I am thrilled that a Canadian team (that isn't the Habs, whom I dislike) is headed to the finals!

Congrats to Winnipeg! I just hope the fanbase there can sustain a team this time around. I'm surprised Bettman allowed the relocation. He seems dead set on keeping failing teams in cities than can't keep/afford them. I wonder if RIM founder Jim Balsillie will try to bring a team to Canada again. I think having another team in Ontario might force the Maple Leafs to up their game and lower their ticket prices.
