Australian Love Letter to Novak Djokovic

I have to amend my original post - I'm glad Novak had to fly 14 hours, be "imprisoned" for several days, and then be sent back on another 14 hour flight.

He's now saying his medical exemption was due to him testing positive on December 16 but there is a lot of contradictory information indicating that is probably a lie - such as the exemption application deadline having been Dec 10, for example. Also, he attended a number of public events, maskless, on Dec 16 and 17, so if he did test positive, he knowingly went out in public to spread it around.

I guess he must be psychic because he applied for his visa for the Australian Open on Nov 18th. That visa was predicated on the understanding that he’d have a medical exemption to allow him to play and yet he didn’t test positive *allegedly* for COVID until Dec 16th…

So either he threw caution to the wind and specifically tried to catch COVID (which would be at least the second time he’s had it) or he’s lying his ass off. I’m thinking he’s lying and thought a dodgy Dr’s letter was enough to give him a pass.

I hope the Judge on Monday throws his ass out of the country and slaps him with a 3 year re-entry ban.

Apparently his visa quashing has been overturned. I’m stumped by what can have been the logic, either in terms of legalities or optics. Ugh I hate this Teflon dick more than ever.

I've seen several people who were on the "accept the consequences" side of the argument come around to Novak's side having seen the transcript of his being held by customs when he first landed. He was given 20 minutes to provide more information to be allowed to enter the country, but they would not tell him what was missing. With that information, I believe many people including the judge, concluded that the action was taken not to enforce the law but to make a statement.

So the latest I just heard is that he might have lied about not travelling abroad before arriving in Australia. I really hope his oversized ego gets turfed out of the country.
